šŸˆ Dennis Dodd article on the growing number of flopping cases.

NFL POLICY: Clubs are reminded of the following league policy regarding fake injuries for strategic purposes. The supplemental note to rule 4, section 5, article 4 states: "The Competition Committee deprecates feigning injuries, with subsequent withdrawal, to obtain a timeout without penalty. Coaches are urged to cooperate in discouraging this practice."
The memo continues:

Be advised that violators of this policy will be subject to appropriate disciplinary action for conduct detrimental to the game which could include fines of coaches, players, and clubs, suspensions or forfeiture of draft choices. We have been fortunate that teams and players have consistently complied with the spirit of the rule and teams are strongly urged to continue to cooperate with this policy.

There needs to be some consequences to this! The 2 UT players down at the same time, and one looking at the other like ā€œdude, it was my turn, not yours!ā€ That to me was the icing on the cake. Go back to ā€˜09 against LSwho and on a BAMA TD in the 4th, 5-6 players were lying in the ground.
Make the player sit the remainder of the quarter, or to make it a team punishment, flag the team should the player be reinserted on the same possession.

To me, the icing on the cake happened during the 3rd quarter when a UTurd player dropped. His coach told him to get up, and the player rose and walked to the sideline. There was a LOUD chorus of boos from the north end zone, including me.

Not just north EZ...lol. Stadium wide...
Worse part Tennessee was complaining about Mississippi doing it theweek before!
@UAgrad93
But if you have legit injury....not fair for a player to sit...or cramps ...especially in early fall games....happens....a lot

Or your QB hit hard and needs a few minutes....dont want him out as a penalty

If you have a cramp so bad that you can’t get to the sideline or an injury so bad you need the medics on the field, then how often can a player really come right back after 1 play. They weren’t really hurt. Make them sit a possession. Not unreasonable. Again, they were injured enough to not be able to get off the field. Is Jesus on the sidelines healing these guys?

A cramp can go away with a simple stretch. You ever gotten one in your hamstring when your leg wants to curl up, it's excruciating, but it's nothing that would keep you out of the game for a drive, quarter, or half. All it takes is a stretch and hydration. I always ran mine off.

That's what the UTurd player was doing. He was writhing and holding his knee (maybe his leg). tinersee was at a good place for once, so one of the assistants frantically waved the player to the sideline. The player easily obliged.

Agree, they don’t always last. But these guys could hop off the field with the calf or hammy cramps I’ve had. And heck, they caused a 5 minute delay in the game. Gotta be something to not reward them. Cramps are probably the most faked condition when these teams fake something. These are tough guys, limp off the field. Not that big a deal.

Yeah, I agree with you. I always tell my eight year old son to never lay there. Pick yourself up and get off the field even if you have to crawl.
