📝 December Recruiting- 15 in, three committed, with roughly 8 spots left

My point, since you missed it, is his credibility wasn't all that back in '11. He'd just gotten his feet wet under Kirk for a few years before moving on to Rivals. Even he knew there were grade issues. I know what was said to him. And, if Bone is saying the same thing? That's like MSNBC and FOX reporting the same angle.

Saban tells a marginal kid he doesn't have the grades... A day later he has the grades. You're explanation is....?

I'll move because it's obvious. Common sense > Sources. Saban and staff can spin things any which way, especially if the kid's grades aren't peachy. Jjust depends on how far someone's nose is up their arss on whether or not they believe it.

Who was it that year, Matt Elam? Which guy did we miss on?

One of many that are and have been mislead by Saban and staff... Just typical practice in most of recruiting... Which is why the more options/opportunities for recruits the better.

Reese Dismukes, one of the top offensive line prospects in the 2011 class, has decided to hold off on making a commitment.Spanish Fort offensive lineman Reese Dismukes -- one of the state's top football prospects -- has indefinitely postponed the announcement of his college decision.

A 6-foot-3, 280-pound center who made the Class 5A All-State team and helped Spanish Fort advance to the 5A semifinals last year, Dismukes initially planned to announce his intention today but has since opted to wait, Toros coach Bryant Vincent said.

It's unclear when Dismukes will decide.

Dismukes had originally been set to announce a decision shortly after signing day, but canceled it. He said Wednesday that the extra time helped him make a more informed decision -- and a different one than he'd originally planned.

"It would have turned out different if I'd have made it then, but things happen for a reason," he said

I might be out there in left field with this, but as I examine our recruiting as well as our returning roster, I can't help but notice the surplus of OLBs right now and scarce numbers inside at DT. I just wonder if Saban is going to ask some of our OLBs (e.g., Jennings, Allen, Parks) to add some bulk and move them to DE. And then ask some of our thicker DEs (e.g., Buggs, Davis, Williams) to prepare for more reps inside next season.

Anyone know?

I could see that. Mekhi Brown would be one for sure... He's just not quick enough to edge rush.

If Buggs were to have a couple huge playoff games, does he bolt?! I sure hope not.

You're talking about one kid about of what, 250? And you make it sound like it's an epidemic when in reality it appears it's just the horse you chose to ride to it dies.

More than 1. I've named a few that have been mislead right before an announcement. Again, it's not just Alabama... But Saban is clearly not above it.

But regardless, I'm 95% for anything that helps the recruits and feel little sympathy for the coaches making 6 and 7 figures. They're paid well to figure it out and move on.

Good point about Mekhi Brown. And I too have wondered about Buggs. He was absolutely dominant against A&M before getting injured late in that game.

You have your dates wrong. It's not like he was told Monday "you don't have the grades," then Tuesday "you do." He was offered a grey shirt early on in the process, stalker. And he certainly didn't call out Saban.

Common sense > sources ... doesn't mean a damn thing when your common sense opinion(s) aren't based on what happened.

That said, if he wouldn't have taken a visit to Mississippi State who knows if he still would have grey shirted? That's a guessing game just like the earlier--much earlier--statement saying the early signing period would have prevented all of this. We simply don't know.

Matt Elam was a safety. Bama didn't miss on a center that class. It was Ryan Kelly all along.

All well and good there. He delayed his announcement. Nothing to be found on a grey shirt, eh? Errr, didn't happen, huh.

Since you brought it up here. Common sense thing ...

How often have you seen linemen offered without camping at Bama in the summer? When did Reese camp at Bama?

(You'll find a few players in the entire class, very few in each class, that didn't camp. Did Reese?)

Dude you're so off here it's wild.

First off - OJ SMith offered a grey shirt early in the process... How early? Keep in mind he was one of the first commitments. Was it a week before NSD so he visited MSU? Not OK.

Secondly - Matt Elam was the fat DT from KY in that class we missed on. Probably the spot OJ ended up getting when he passes the extra credit Saban graded.

Third - The Auburn kid was committing to Bama on that day and got told he didn't have an offer after being publicly reported he was down to Auburn and Alabama. You can tell me if he did or didn't camp at Alabama because you're a better googler... Once again, for the 5th time, its only relative to the point I make that the early signing period pushes coaches to be up front earlier so these issues don't occur.

And lastly - You've ducked and dodged about 10 times now. Maybe you didn't look at the dates of the articles I linked. On Feb 4 it's being reported by you and Andrew Bone's "sources" that the staff told OJ he didn't have the grades. On February 5th he suddently has the grades, is "allowed" to sign, and is in the class without a grey shirt. Again - Waiting for you to justify how that happens over night? What does your common sense tell you?

Dude you're so off here it's wild.
My daughter tutored OJ. You sir, don't realize how off you are here

Elam. Fat kid from Kentucky. Yes, committed to UK. Had nothing to do with OJ. Absolutely zero.

Reese was never committing to Alabama. He had no committable offer. Again, call it sources if you like or go with your common sense. I'll go with someone who actually works in the athletic department.

Your dates don't mean anything, stalker. You're going by google. I'm going by family.

"Your dates don't mean anything". LOL

If your daughter tutoring him in Louisiana than by all means, she did a great job. Cause he certainly qualified and joined the class just like everyone else. If she was tutoring him at UA, so what?

If it wasn't Matt Elam's spot, it was someone else's. Same premise... Point is a top ranked DT wouldn't have been pushed to grey shirt that late in the process.

Y'all live in an alternate universe. Plain as day what happened here to anyone that can read and comprehend. Still waiting on a reasonable explanation... And "your dates don't mean anything" isn't one.

Just getting caught up on the early signees... Fun to watch them dominate in HS comp

Jordan Davis - Doesn't get much more physically impressive. He's huge (6'5 240??). Looks like another Chris Allen type that's physically ready to take snaps next season. The one issue that could be the same as Allen, don't see that crazy burst off the edge we saw from Evans/Tim Williams in HS. I'm sure he will get more explosive at UA, but can't teach that size.

Savion Smith - Great size. Going to be much more aggressive than our typical first year DB's but has quick feet. Huge pickup under the circumstances I'm pumped to see how special he's going to be.

Ekiyor - GOOD PLAYER! Damn he's got a chance to step right in for us. When he get's his hands on dudes he's finishing the deal. Nice athleticism too and a little heavier than the run of OC's we've signed recently. Maybe we start him at guard but seems like a terrific center prospect.

Wynn - What's not to like with this dude? Considering the holes in the that need filled he's a huge pick up. Perfect for how we rotate these guys, big enough to play 3-4 DE and in a year or two will be big enough to play inside 4-3. They list him at 285 already but he's no stiff... That kid can move and run. Wouldn't surprise me at all if he's getting snaps next year.

Christian Barmore - 2 words... Holy Shit. How is this kid not in the top 100 or even 50? Only body type we can really compare him to is Raekwon Davis. Guys 6'5 290 should not move like him... Crazy thing is he doesn't have big thick legs either, which I love for athleticism. Hoops coach in me wants to see him at Power Forward! If he's not playing in some capacity next year I'll be shocked. Excited about this one.

Anoma - Straight up elite athlete. Just don't see that size/speed/athleticism combo at his age. Looks like a slightly bigger version of Rashaan Evans the way he runs down guys in the open field. Difference is Anoma is about 15-20 lbs heavier already. Love seeing UA recruits with speed more so than strength because they always put on size & weight with Cochran... Speed is more of a natural gift. This dude has all the makings of a special player... Great job by the staff to snag him.

Gonna check out some of the other dudes after lunch. I know there is some fret about this recruiting cycle but every single one of these dudes so far has elite potential. Would be in all of our other classes... RTR

Some of the other guys in the class:

Josh Jobe - Very impressive athlete. With his size and speed he could be a freakish corner... Looks a whole lot like Trevon Diggs actually. Has to be a candidate as a return man as well... He's speed with the ball is amazing. Don't see much in regards to coverage ability on the tape but hopefully he's a natural. Either way, another elite talent... Can see why he's a top 100 guy.

Cameron Latu - Interesting player here. Yet another OLB that looks like he's physically ready from Day 1. 6'5 235 lbs. What stood out to me is that he looks extremely powerful. Don't know if he has that edge speed we've been missing, but when you see him play TE he runs really well. I could see offensive staff having some interest in him for sure... He looks pretty natural running routes. Biggest question is how he transitions from Utah high school football... Not a high level of comp. Clearly the staff is piling up the OLB's the last 2 classes and he's another one that can play with some versatility.

Jerome Ford - As noted before, not the typical RB we've pursued... But certainly has some Josh Jacobs qualities. Almost undoubtedly faster though... He can really break away from the D. At 195lbs it would take a while to become a top tier back at UA but could be a nice little 3rd down option in the post Jacobs era. When Burns/Saban target an under the radar guy like this and make him a priority, usually a pretty good sign he's got a chance to be special.

Not a good day for a de-commitment..

Bad omen? Nation's top 2019 running back prospect decommits from Alabama

While most Alabama fans are probably much more concerned about Monday night’s Sugar Bowl against Clemson — which kicks off at 8:45 p.m. ET on ESPN — it’s worth noting that the Crimson Tide just took a major loss on the recruiting trail.
Trey Sanders, who is a 5-star running back prospect in the class of 2019, decided just ahead of the Tide’s College Football Playoff semifinal game that he was going to decommit and open his recruitment back up.
“I would like to thank Coach Nick Saban and the rest of the staff for believing in me and giving me an opportunity to play the sport I love at the next level,” Sanders posted on Twitter. “Alabama will still be a top school of mine, but I feel that this is only right.”
Sanders is rated as the nation’s No. 1 running back and its 10th-best prospect overall according to the 247Sports Composite. He’s the No. 2 overall prospect in the state of Florida, where he attends IMG Academy.
The elite RB has additional offers from Auburn, Georgia, LSU and Oklahoma — among others.
Hopefully Sanders’ decommitment isn’t a bad omen for the Tide’s Sugar Bowl hopes.
