šŸ“ December Recruiting- 15 in, three committed, with roughly 8 spots left

Why is it suspicious? KS learned from the master and has applied what he learned very well. He’s just doing his job as head coach of The U of G.

Is he playing dirty? I have no way of knowing for sure but I don’t doubt it at all.

While I agree he learned a lot during his time under Saban, it's just fishy that Georgia is the only school we have lost players too. Brenton Cox was all Alabama after decommitting and Joseph was apparently in the fold for a while. Technically you could name Emory Jones, but he was committed to Ohio State the entire time. The whole thing just wreaks of something improper. Georgia is a great school, they have played well this year, but Kirby and Georfia have not won anything yet. Atleast Saban won at LSU and had that to build off of as a head coach. Not sure any first time head coach has pulled 5-6 five star recruits in their second year after a five loss season to start.

While Cox decommitted after his trip to us, he immediately OV'd to UGA and I imagine tons of people were in his ear about staying in state. as for Joseph, it appears that it was really tight finish between us and UGA to begin with when he initially committed. Rumors about grades and UGA working hard to convince administration that he can qualify, while BAMA asked him to wait until February so they could get a better read on his grades. He got pissed. UGA, evidently, has more room for error while we have to be more selective due to numbers.

As far as I can see, our situation with Joseph is another confirmation of why I favor the early signing. This happens on the 2nd signing we could be without. The eventual ole miss signing of Tony Conner is a case study of the other side of the coin for me. I never got the impression he was a flight risk from our coaching staff and I believe we lost Von Bell to Ohio State because of it. Being left at the altar on D-Day without a 5-star safety was especially tough.

My impression of the early signing is that it gauges the heart intent of these recruits a little more clearly because it makes people move around. I don't think it's always sinister in nature either. Some of these kids are so conflicted they might surprise themselves when the pressures on with their eventual decision. And most of all it definitely allows every football team time for a plan B.

Was Cox sent an offer to sign from Bama, or was his withheld til his academic standing was clear(er)?

How so?

Bama wants him to wait until February to sign because there's doubts with his qualification. UGA says "we'll sign you."

Now, let's assume doesn't qualify and UGA finds out in February just before NSD. Now, we've got a kid without a scholarship offer at UGA because they don't have anymore. Who's won here? Joseph? Because he didn't do what he needed to do, what's required?

I'm seeing this as a bad example.

When Joseph doesn' qualify I'll buy that scenario. Right now he's under the impression he's an early entree. But even so, I'm all about second chances when left at the altar. The issue is greater than Joseph.

Right now, our coaches only have to concentrate on 8 recruits and Clemson every day. The prima donna season benefits coach Saban as one of the best closers. There are still a lot of Aubrey Solomons out there.

There's no difference in what's happening today and what would have been happening if the early date wasn't approved. It's a dead period.

It's going to happen. You're all about second changes when there's people who haven't had a first chance because scenarios like this?

How do you feel about what's been added to the high school coaches?

So moving forward, do we have an update for the final spots? Besides getting our commits Walker, Jackson, and Parker, who are we concentrating our efforts on now?
Just off the top of my head, this is who I remember
Surtain
Ross
Sewell
Joseph
Friday
Petit-Frere
Peterson
Waddle
Campbell
Copeland

BTW, based on the track record of that high school and what they've done with kids in the past...combined with the fact they didn't send UA sufficient transcripts...and the fact he did have a LOI in front of him ... using his story is a bad example here.

However, the chances of that happening, with this high school?

Today's the last day. Let's see what happens. It may be seven before the day is over.
