I used to watch him a lot in college. About ...ten - fifteen years ago, Letterman made the mistake Carson wouldn't make: he started revealing his political side. I hadn't had a lot of time to watch him any more, and that slant didn't help him in my eyes.
Still, his one-liners and dumb guy mannerisms are hilarious. He has been around a long, long time. Maybe he and Leno can take up golfing or motorcycle riding together.
