🏈 Dabo has a word for the fans. "We should lose more games."

I don’t t think there’s anything wrong with expecting a W every week. Plus now even the players are making an ass load of money, and an education worth hundreds of thousands of dollars. We should expect it done right. I know if I screw up, I pay for it. These guys don’t, they just have to put up with people talking shit. If they can’t handle that, then they’re a bunch of thin skinned pussies. The coaches to, they make even more to do it right.

The irony is that while he is deriding bandwagon fans who only cheer for the team when they are doing well, his ridiculous salary, and the ridiculous salary of his players, is based on how many people watch their games. In the modern game of football, television viewership is the measuring stick for success, and that includes the so called bandwagon fans. Dabo is not that smart, so he probably doesn't understand that yet. Saban is the smartest man in the room, and he understands that they need fans. All he does is use the fans and the media to convey messages to his players about managing expectations and doing the right thing. Dabo is not fit to carry Saban's jock strap, much less replace him. Dabo is and always has been over rated.

He's right. That's exactly what Bama fans need to experience right now.
How many times have we seen people complaining about this season and a loss is what fans need?

I've paid my dues as a fan under DuBose, Shula, etc ... I don't need to see losses.
Not a big Dabo fan, but we are all victims to this. He ain't wrong.
How am I a victim to this? I don't jump on bandwagons. I don't mind if others do.

Dabo's catching heat right now and in his mind it's coming from bandwagon fans. I'm sure some of it is: but not all of it—not by a long shot.

I knew we had a ton of bandwagoners once Saban arrived and especially once he got the machine going. But it's WAY more than I thought. At the risk of sounding like I am patting myself on the back, I was a fan when Ray Perkins came on board and said Bama fans may have to get used to 9-3 kind of seasons. I was a fan when Joab Thomas botched what was supposed to have been the hiring of Bobby Bowden and instead we ended up with Curry. Hootie's fiasco, 3 yards and a cloud of dust Stallings, Dubose's secretary fling, hold the rope Franphony, it's rolling baby, deer in the headlights Shula, etc. Yet, so many literally couldn't tell you that Shula was the coach before Saban, let alone anything about Fran bolting for aTm or the old man and the strip joint. ALL they know is Saban, and these fans aren't young kids either. So, I agree with Dabo. The loss of a few more games might do some good in the long run and lighten up the bandwagon.

I wasn't saying we are bandwagoners, just stating how spoiled fans can get in a quick amount of time.

“The expectation level is high at the University of Alabama and it should be. What’s wrong with people expecting excellence?”

I think that quote is under in his bio in the '96 media guide. @50+yeartidefan You got a copy of that?

Would "spoiled" also be defined as harping on losses from the previous season? I don't call that spoiled, I call that obsessive. Obsession, coming from fans. 🤷‍♂️

So long as they stay on when times aren't so great anymore, then the more the merrier. It's the ones who hop off as soon as the team has that first not so hot season. The fairweather folks. Lakers and Celtics fans come to mind
We're not talking about bandwagon fans any longer? I do get what you're saying. I just see it too often for it to matter any longer. Hell, have you read a game day thread here?

I think it's spoiled to expect a 35 point no brainer win every weekend. I think it's spoiled to think every true freshman and recruit we get should shine by Game 4 of Year 1. I think it's spoiled to think Alabama is immortal and not susceptible to letdowns.

I don't think it's spoiled to want to win. I don't think it's spoiled to expect paid players to rise to the occasion and present a professionalism that comes with being paid for your service. I don't think it's spoiled to want better opponents inside Bryant-Denny.
