Outland Trophy winner Barrett Jones worked at center in early drills.
TUSCALOOSA, Alabama -- It's official. Spring has sprung.
The proof: BCS 2011 national champion Alabama opened spring drills today, going through drills in helmets and shorts. Coach Nick Saban will address the media at the conclusion of the workout.
The first part of the opening session was open to media. The most notable change: Senior All-American offensive lineman Barrett Jones worked at center, a switch from left tackle, where he won the Outland Trophy as a junior.
Also notable: Former Daphne teammates Ryan Anderson and T.J. Yeldon were wearing familiar jersey numbers. Linebacker Anderson was wearing jersey number 7 while Yeldon wore number 4.
Other newcomer jersey numbers: Defensive backs Deion Belue (13) and Travell Dixon (9), receivers Amari Cooper (9) and Chris Black (5) and linebacker Dillon Lee (25). Belue and Dixon are junior college transfers. Cooper, Black and Lee -- like Anderson and Yeldon -- are true freshmen who graduated from high school early.
