I have always been told that in order to appreciate the present and future, we must first understand the past. To help Alabama enjoy the upcoming win over Oklahoma in the Sugar Bowl, let us reflect back upon the four meetings between the Oklahoma Sooners and Alabama Crimson Tide.The first time Oklahoma and Alabama met was in the 1963 Orange Bowl. Coach Paul Bear Bryant led the Tide to a 17-0 victory over the Sooners, who were coached by Bud Wilkinson.* The attendance for that game on January 1, 1963 was 72,880.* Joe Namath and company came prepared to give this crowd of 70,000 plus a show.
