🏈 Courtney Upshaw? - Terry?

Terry, where do you see us utilizing Courtney Upshaw next season? He seemed to make a very good impression on special teams, and got some pretty good time on defense at times. Could he be the pass rusher we need?

Not sure where Upshaw will be, but I'm confident Terry will not be rushing. Or, did I misread your subject line?

But if you do Terry, I'm buying your jersey -- I'm a big fan (not "Big_Fan", just a big fan.)

Upshaw could be our answer at a pass rush next year... but I also expect Fanney to do better next year as well. Fanney responded well to the offseason program last year and should get even better this time around.

Upshaw has the ability to become one of the best linebackers we've had at UA in a very long time IMO. He managed to bulk up really quickly and not lose a step too. The jack position is going to be a fun one to watch as we also have guys like Harbin (true freshman) and Alex Watkins (if he doesn't transfer) ready to compete. I was pretty impressed with Anders throughout the season as well.

If we choose to look at this as a problem, it's isn't a bad one to have.

How the starting rotation at LB ends up in the fall is really anyone's guess.

I'm sure we can find a lot that say "it's a given that Ro returns in the ILB slot." But, he could just as easily slide outside. We saw Hightower to the same in the Sugar.
Reamer can play inside or outside. Tana is being recruited and told he can play any of the four slots.

Courtney? He could end up backing Fanney up again next year at JACK. He could slide over and work at WILL.

Hell, he'd make a great TE as much of an athlete as he is...

Literally, there are a lot of different personnel groups we can put together, in theory, and make some strong cases for all of them.

Sit back and remember. With the exception of one player, Greenwood, we are returning all of our front seven...the first string, second string, third string...and, AND, bring in some great young talent on top of that.

-- Side Note-- FWIW, and this is just my opinion, give Ming a year of coaching and he'll be just as good as a sophomore as Greenwood has been as a Senior. He needs some technique work now...but he's been a hell of a DE in high school because he just so much better of an athlete than those he's played against.

Terry, how do you see Michael Williams fitting into this picture? Could he end up as a TE? I know he has 6'6' and 260 or so when we signed him, but he was expected to grow some more.

He's already made the move.

He's got great speed for that size. If he can catch he will make a special tight end.

From observations made that have been shared with me his speed is legit. He's athletic enough, as a TE, to split out wide if needed and he's physical enough to play that TE position we are losing with McCall graduating. He's taller than Travis, but already weighs about the same. Give him another 10-15 lbs and he'll be a solid TE.

Consider this. Even though he spent his time at DE in his senior year in high school, he was athletic enough to run reverses on offense when he was a Jr.

I'm also excited about what Ming brings to the table. He's great on the line and is also impressive as a TE prospect. He's much quicker on the field than most would believe as well. He responds quickly and gets to the ball quickly. Can't wait to see what he can do. Hopefully in 2010 we can land Craig Sanders. He's a jack linebacker prototype IMO.

Well, he'd definitely make a great tight end should we choose to put him there. His athletic ability is astounding. With his size, speed and strength though, I think he'd work magic at the jack. Him at TE would make me just as giddy though as TE is my favorite position on the field... one of the reasons I hope we can get Lutzenkirchen.
