🏈 Courtney Upshaw Arrested?

Well if thats true he just bought himself a ticket to the doghouse.

But it makes me reflect on how much depth we have at the LB posisition nowadays.

Arg with my generation and their stupid choices.

Include myself in that, though I have grown from that and luckily I didnt face harsh consequences.

Quite surprising if that's true. He's got a ticket directly to Saban's doghouse...

Saban always talks about bad decisions and this is a bad one. I'd be very disappointed with Courtney... Hope it's just an Inet rumor...

I didn't expect this coming. Good luck for him...

RTR,

Uh, I think it's 'Has Alabama's Courtney Upshaw actually been arrested?'

I'd think that's pretty evident.

I'm hesitant to make any judgment because I saw how badly these things were misinterpreted in the past.

BUT, the charge isn't something anyone likes to see in any situation. That said, it looks like an argument that became heated and the Sheriff Deputy decided an arrest was warranted.

I would've hated to be at the Saban house early this morning when that call came in. Not only is Courtney looking at having to deal with punishment from CNS but he will also get more than an earful from Coach Sunseri. Sunseri was riding his azz this past Spring for not using proper technique in drills. I hope for Courtney's sake that it was blown out of proportion and the Deputy was simply taking him in to defuse the situation.

He`s not listed at the TCPD so I guess his $500 bond was paid.

I really do not think this is that big of a deal. Like Terry said, it was an argument that got heated if the cop would not have been there to witness it then nothing would have come from this except a broken relationship

Capooth, it probably isn't that serious, but anytime it gets thrown across the TV and radio waves and you're a member of the football team, it's a big deal in itself. Now, CNS will be put under the microscope for how he handles this situation. I agree that if a deputy hadn't been there, then nothing gets out other than hurt feelings.

Father of girl involved in altercation with Tide's Courtney Upshaw: "I don't think he laid a hand on her."

Alabama linebacker Courtney Upshaw did not initiate the altercation that landed him in jail today on a charge of misdemeanor domestic violence/harassment, the father of the female involved told the Press-Register.

Kendall Grzyb, a 19-year-old UA student from Madison, Ala., was arrested on the same charge as Upshaw. According to her father, the two "had been dating on-again and off-again" and were arguing around 10 p.m. Wednesday near the Student Recreation Center on campus.
Dave Grzyb called it "a simple lovers' quarrel altercation."
"The cops just happened to be there and see it and they took them both in," he said, "I hate to see this guy get in too much trouble because I honestly think it was probably initiated by my daughter. I don't think he laid a hand on her. He just tried to restrain her to keep from getting hit again."
The arrests were made by University of Alabama Police.
Upshaw, 19, was booked in the Tuscaloosa County Jail at 1:25 a.m. this morning. The domestic charge carried a $500 bond and 12-hour holding period for Upshaw and Grzyb. She was released in the past hour, according to her father.
"Neither one of them pressed charges on each other," Dave Grzyb said. "The cops witnessed it. So I don't know whose hands it's in."
Upshaw, a sophomore from Eufaula, is competing for the starting Jack linebacker spot on Alabama's defense. He played in 13 games last season.
Nick Saban is expected to address Upshaw's situation later today. The Crimson Tide has practice at 3:30 p.m.

Looks like the girls father is the key here in saying that he just held her because he didnt want to get hit again. Unfortunately Courtney will have to learn a very valuable lesson here by not just WALKING AWAY!!!!

I know it sounds over simplified and its tough to do but unless you are truly in a situation where there is no where you can go just leave and leave quickly.

Well its not as though I thought it was serious, but a stupid choice led to him being put in that spot with the girl. I know she isnt a stranger.

In anycase, Ithink he may lose a spot in a game(maybe against a lesser opponent) just for the distraction.

Dunno, whatever happens happens, but an educated guess would be that he is on an extremely short leash within the program for now.

More like a choke collar now, or a shock collar
