Man, to have Ron Franklin do the game wouldn't be a bad consolation. I don't mind Herbie doing the game, he's been pretty unbiased in his calling. Musburger is a little different story, but the guy is a legend.

That would be like a dream come true. Rose Bowl stadium, Bama playing for the title, and hearing "WHooooooa Nelly" when Javy or Ingram breaks one open. Followed by the line everyone trys to copy. "Touchdown ALAA-BAMA!"

Musberger is too much in love with the PAC 10. I just hate the way he goes on and on about USC.

I didnt mind Musberger until the game when Bama went to Oklahoma a few years back. His love of OU before and during that game reminded me of the CBS guys and Florida.

Then when Alabama came back from 21 points down and took the lead he says "Like Bear Bryant always said, you have to run tthe ball before you can throw the ball!"

He seems to favor the favorite in the game. But yes, good voice for a sports announcer. I still prefer the ESPN announcers that used to do the Sat night SEC game.

He was interviewed on ESPN's college football podcast a while ago. He still has the distinctive voice, but also sounded senile and almost grouchy.
