🏈 Cooper

If you didnt know he was a freshman, you would never think it. Calm and strictly business......im very impressed.

It's funny, where I was, I couldn't hear well and missed what was said about the ruling on that TD after review. I was going off his expression in response to it, since the camera was on his face, and immediately got in an uproar that it wasn't overturned. Nothing wrong with not wearing your emotions on your sleeve but I was surprised he didn't at least smile. haha.

haha yeah that was awesome, no expression at all with that. when he came over he looked at Coach Saban and made the "i caught it" motion to him, Saban nodded, and Amari went to the bench. that was about it.

but if you had been able to hear the commentary Millen was CONVINCED the entire time that was not a catch, he just couldnt understand how he had "possession" when the foot was down. i dont know what Millen's deal with this Alabama team is.

He played with a lot of poise. I really respect the lack of celebrations/showboating as well. As an Eagles fan, I had to suffer DeSean Jackson's constant showboating his rookie year and man, did it make me lose a lot of respect for the guy. Amari plays with the cool confidence that older, more experienced guys have.

Millen smells like a big 10 fan. havent' done any research but i'm speculating that he has a golden dome helmet in his closet. he must have made at least 3 negative comments about AJ during the game... none of which were true.

You're right, partially. No golden dome in closet, but he was a Penn State player. He just happened to be on the team that played Bama in the Sugar when we won the NC in '79. It was a moment in his playing career Coach Moore reminded him of during his visit in T-town last week.

Here's something to consider about "football knowledge." He was president and CEO of the Lions for the better part of last decade: better, as in majority. I'm sure you recall all the reports about inept management of the Lions franchise? That was directed at Millen.

Yeah Millen did say some questionable things that night, stuff about "AJ McCarron not being able to lead the team on his back", the catch by Amari was incomplete....But that guy still has my respect...

Amari looks like Julio-esque, little bit more speed but less power.

Very impressed with Amari Cooper.

But Millen was correct. He didn't have possession before going out of bounds. Not that I'm complaining about the replay official giving us the TD, but it shouldn't have been overturned.

The only thing Amari has done that reminds me of Julio is the numbers he's put up. He'll likely have more TD's than Julio and if he breaks a few long ones he may beat his total yard total. Jones was taller, weighed more, and more physical off the line of scrimmage.

What do you see that makes you think of him?

I made a Julio comparison too but just about his attitude, workman-like, not a "look at me" type of player. I would say Julio may be faster too, but players with that combination of strength, size, speed, physicality, and attitude come along once in a lifetime anyway.

I did pick up on some odd comments throughout the game, just like some other posters mentioned. It seems like I remember at least 3 times, maybe more, where he said Alabama has no pass rush or something like that. Hopefully I didn't just make that up but that's what I thought he kept saying. And, if so, how many times did Wallace get sacked in that game??

Julio Jones (freshman)
58 catches, 924 yds, avg 15.9 yds per catch, 4 TDs.

Amari Cooper
17 catches, 222 yds, avg 13.1 yds per catch, 3 TDs.

Amari has received ~25% of AJ's completions (17 of 73) and 22% of AJ's yds (222 of 999 yds)
