🏀 👷 The Hard Hat Award: Season totals through 3/15 (SECT game winner was Mo, again.)

Dioubate is playing at a high level.
Turnovers are plaguing Sears and Nelson.
Phil on is on the freshman “hit the wall” bus. It happens and he will get through it.
This could be another banner year if we can get through long periods of struggles on the offensive end and turnovers. I am looking forward to what the next few weeks will bring. Our boys have a long row to hoe in this conference.

It could be. But...... there are teams that shoot well...and rebound well...take care of ball...and if you just give them more opportunities because you turn the ball over without having opportunities to score....you wont beat them...
More TOs than FGs

Same as in football...turnovers will beat you

Got to stop turning ball over

Oats actually emphasized that heavily in his press after Georgia. Finally glad to hear him really talk about it.

Looked up season stats to date and was surprised to see that we are only averaging fewer than 3 turnovers more than our opponents. With our style of play, it would be difficult win turnover battle night to night. It just seems anytime we go above 12, the excessive turnovers are just god awful.

13 games where we've seen 12 or more; two losses in those games. In six of those 13 they had more assists than turnovers. That's a wash in my view. Just like in football where we look at TD's : INT's, TO's have to be looked at in the lens of AST's : TO's. (IE: Mark has brought a lot of attention on himself and that's led to attention paid to his last two games where he has had 13 TO's. He's averaging right at 2:1 and those 20+ steals certainly have to be considered.)

If they can keep the TO's in that 10-12 range, as long as the assists are there, they'll be okay. I do see a need for more pressure on defense.

FWIW, if you don't follow my logic here.

An assist always leads to two or three points on the board.
A turnover can just as it can lead to zero points on the board.
A guarantee versus a chance.
