šŸˆ Conference shuffle??

So, according to ESPN, Nebraska received and accepted an offer to join the Big 10. Does this start the conference shuffle? The Pac 10 is supposedly courting Colorado among others. Do we see the SEC break out with some major move or do they sit and wait????

If Nebraska accepts, the Big TEN is at 12 and does not need to go further.

But now the BIG XII is one down, so they grab TCU (or whoever).

So since the BIG XII is still good to go, the PAC-10 can't lure Colorado or the Texas Block of 4.

So the PAC-10 invites Utah and one other to make 12, and does not need to go further.

With the SEC, ACC, Big TEN, Big XII, and PAC-10 all at 12 teams, no one needs to go further, so no one does.

To answer the question - "No".

Sure, if they stop at 12 teams apiece. With all the talk of the Pac 10 going to 16 teams, would you think that the SEC would follow? I can't see any of the big conferences expanding to 16 teams without the others following and that would almost certainly eliminate 2 conferences.

For whatever reason, the Big XII seems to be the conference being raided, lot's of "ifs" here but if they lose Texas and A&M, Colorado and 1 more, can they raid enough to survive or do they go away?

Still find it hard to believe that the Pac 10 is courting Texas, geographically it seems an odd fit.

His original question was regarding what can be made of the Nebraska deal. We can not at this point rule out that this is all that there is, plus the BIG XII having to address being at 11 teams (e.g. the TCU comment).

Sure, if someone goes on a shopping spree, they will not be alone. But that trigger has not been pulled.

Don't be surprised if 16 is soon considered a smaller conference. If the networks get restructure their way of approaching this game, this whole thing could get crazy. ESPN and CBS are already partnering. ESPN has networks for individual cities. There is no reason that they could not do the same for a conference (shades of the Big TEN conference). There is much more money to be made, if only the networks have a better product.

how many times is ESPN accurate with their reports...

observation...this will overshadow USC's NCAA sanctions - trip out on that for a second.

I've noticed that. If USC gets kicked in the Jimmy, then the PAC-10 is damaged goods at exactly the wrong time. So the question I'm pondering is this; Is USC too important to fail?

Will money trump right and wrong?
