I think Jake held his own. A little late on the deep throws and then held it too long on the sacks. We really got spoiled quick last season because Blake was able to avoid those sacks with his feet.

@uagrad93 It seemed like one of the sacks he got a little blind-sided. One he couldn't outrun; Blake could have. Held one too long. Pocket collapsed on one (wouldn't say that was his fault). I'm remembering four TFL. Blake had a couple in the opening game last year as well though (if memory serves - heck, I don't know - he was sacked last year some though). Looking at the comparisons of first games, just statistically, Jake looks like he did pretty well. I love the part about no interceptions. He's not perfect, but I don't remember any qb being perfect (Joe Montana in the Super Bowl when he didn't even get dirty, maybe).

I think if and when the job is his and his alone, he'll do even better. I guess we'll see.

I thought, with the Tide defense touted as being so good this season, Coker might not throw nearly as many passes as Blake did last season. For instance, in the Auburn game and the Ohio State game Bama had to keep trying to outscore the other team. Our offense might have to go full throttle this season against faster teams, though.

I agree though; I thought Jake held his own.

It's clear that defenses know that Cam Rob struggles with the speed rush. None of that has anything to do with Jake.... Just think of it like this, if he makes those 2 easy deep ball passes he looks like a veteran, top tier QB. He will continue to grow and improve. When he gets comfortable and stops twitching in the pocket he will be a force.

Did you see Kiffin after the second deep miss? He had a royal fit.
