I guess I read "good riddance" as you are glad he is gone, like he was unpleasant...my apologies for misunderstanding that you didn't actually mean what the term implies :lol:
 
yes he was most definately part our succes but the struggles in the passing especially the red zone we need more on Offense

the defense brings it every game its time for the offense to do the same ; i don't think it will be Groh but dunno about just my thought.
 
He's been the most underrated coach at Bama in recent memory IMO. It should also be noted that he has to work with a pair of Sabancuffs, unlike many other OC's out there. I too have had issues with some of the playcalling at times, especially in the redzone, but he has established himself as one of the best out OC's out there for our style of play. You just are not going to find an OC that nobody ever finds some fault with at times... McElwain has been good. Damn good.
 
Pooter, while I agree with your sentiments 101%. One thing I have wondered about. We all now how domineering Saban's personality is and the fact that it is Saban's offense with about 30% McElwain thrown in. I wonder if that has had an effect on Jim Mc's play calling over the years. Err on the side of caution, if you will. I remember specifically a few plays over the years where Saban was a bit more gutsy and even took time outs to go for the gutsy call. We all remember the pass to Roy Upchurch in 09 to beat Auburn, but another play where Saban had a similar conversation with his OC was against Florida last year at home. In an interview afterwards (I think it was the Nick Saban show) he stated we have practiced it over and over and they will get it right. It was the pass play from the wildcat where Maze threw a pass to the TE (Williams) for a TD against UF. Those are 2 that come to mind, and there is no telling what all else has happened during that time. Just makes me wonder if Saban being the "my way or the highway" coach, if it didn't put a cool down on the more aggressive type play calling sometimes?

Good for him. He's done well with the O. I'm sure you'll see more of his style in CSU. I doubt he went into the interview and said "I want to run it 400 times/game!"

The good thing for you guys is Saban will always have a good D, regardless of when Smart leaves. You don't need a world-beater OC

Have you happened to glance at the top rated QB's in the SEC in terms of yardage, efficiency, etc.? You'll find AJ at the top in all QB categorys—sans, a lot of stupid mistakes.

His QB coach is...Hmmm.

I'll wave judging people on their opinion, but I'll quickly say I see some opinions that would be quantifiers for being a dolt.
 
30% is about what Saban has said in interviews when hiring McElwain. The media was making so much about JPW having to learn his 3rd offense in 3 years when Jimmy Mc was hired. Saban said that 70% of the offense will be the same from Major Applewhite to Jim McElwain.
 
I would like to make myself available to CNS as the new OC for the 2012 edition of the Crimson Tide. :dazed:

I wish CMc the best as he moves on to Colorado St. He has done a good job serving at Alabama as the OC. Hopefully, none of our offensive staff will make the move with him. I dont think it will happen but you never say never.
 
The man is 47-6 as our OC with one National Championship and another trip to one this year. That pretty much speaks for itself.....if anyone can do better than that.....I tip my hat. Ive been frustrated too at times but he has produced well and he has produced with class. Big shoes to fill.

I heard the reason he didn't take the Frsno job was over money for assistants and upgrades to the facilities. Looks like Colorad St said yes to his demands.
