| FTBL Colorado Buff's message boards

Buffs are show respect for Bama for the most part. The talk so far is about how they're glad to be "playing a big time program like Bama" and "a good match between two rebounding programs". There's also the occasional comment about it being a cakewalk for CU since Bama's dropped 4 straight and lots of redneck comments and laughing at Saban's 9-11 reference.

To me, they are about like us: they've been good for one shocking win per year lately, and a whole bunch of other lackluster performances. if they rely on the pass to win, then we have a good chance. If they have a hoss o-line and strong d-line play, we are beat. I don't know much about 'em.

You can also try www.netbuffs.com it probably gets the most traffic (which is still probably less traffic than whatever tide board gets the least traffic).
Allbuffs is the best of the boards though and gets almost as much traffic and seems to already have quite a few of you guys on there. Buffbackers is ok but gets very little traffic

Those folks sure don't like Nebraska. :?

No, they feel toward Nebraska like we do toward the barn.

so u mean they hate em? lol

i really dont have anything bad that i can say about Colorado. i am glad that we are playing them tho. a pretty big school with tradition rather than a Conference USA team or something (no disrespect to them). but i no ZERO about their team. i havent seen anything more than highlights of their games so i have no clue what to expect. hoping for some highlight videos or something we can watch so we know what we're getting ourselves into. history would lead us to believe they are a running team rather than passing wouldnt it tho?

Watched them play Nebraska and that is about as far as it goes. Seems they use to always play UGA in bowl games? They have a decent team from what I have seem.
As far as them beating OU....that is just college football. I mean, we have seen A LOT of upsets this year. Doesn't scare or worry me to play anyone. Prepare and come to play that is all Bama needs to do. Leave it on the field.

They better not bring ralphie the Buffalo. He may get eaten in LA.

A few quick pointers from a Colorado fan:

Ralphie is female. All previous Ralphie's have been, all future ones will be too. This is Ralphie IV, and her last football game ever (she's retiring due to the old age-10 seasons!). Ralphie V will start next year. I don't know if she will travel to the game too, probably not.

Our O-Line is young, as is our whole team really, but especially the OL. But we have some great talent there, with 5-star true-fresh Ryan Miller.

Cody Hawkins (RS-Fr) (yes, the coach's son) is young and makes young-guy mistakes (ala his record-setting interception mark), but he is accurate and has a good arm. Not so much a scrambler, learning to use his legs, but a lot of his passes are dropped, inexcusibly, by the freshmen WRs (we have a senior and Jr WR there too, but the really good ones are freshmen). He is 239/424 (56.4%) with 7 TDs and 15 INTs for 2693 yds. He has -11 yds rushing.

Hugh Charles (Senior) is the main RB, and he likes to dance at the line too much, but he can run and will at break at least one big one in a game. When he breaks a big one we yell "Huuuuugh" which kind of sounds like a boo, but it's his name.

Also, we have personnel packages on offense, so we routinely rotate WR, RB and TEs depending on the play that will be called. Even if Hugh breaks a 99-yard run, if the next play doesn't have him in the package, he comes off.

We will do a direct snap. Cody will line up in the QB but then motion out into a WR spot and the RB will get the ball and typically run and lose a few yards. Most Buff fans don't like the play as it hasn't really done much for us this season, but we've run that up to 7 times in one game that I can remember.

Our D has always been good and is good this year. Don't let the Nebraska score fool you. Mizzu was a fluke (and partially fueled by an in-game scoreboard "We beat Mizzu 3 years ago" video thing that pissed them off and made them run up the score more). The D is experienced and not as young as the O, and we have some amazing talent there. The 1 name to know: (4-year starter) Dizon (linebacker). He's up for many, many, many awards and a lock to be in the NFL. He's got almost twice as many tackles as the next guy on the team (DB Dykes with 83, Dizon has 160). He has the 4th most tackles in CU history.

We are fairly solid on special teams. While Eberhart, our kicker, is no Crosby (who is?), he gets the job done. Good under the the clutch, but will miss the easy one just because he feels like it (I mean, there is no real reason). The young punter DiLallo is average, and made a stupid mistake earlier just not catching the snap and has shanked a couple, but he'll get a 40-yard regularly.

I can't recall going for any fakes this year. Coach Hawk has gambled on some calls this year and later admitted it as a mistake. (Up 21-0 on Iowa State in the 2nd quarter, we go for it on 4th & 2ish on our own 40ish and don't get it. We later lose the game and some point to this as the start of the loss.) I'd expect him to be conservative and only gamble if he has the cards lines up right.

Here's the link to our 2007 stats: http://www.cubuffs.com/pdf5/98410.pdf?ATCLID=1207369&SPSID=3844&SPID=255&DB_OEM_ID=600

We don't count bowl-game stats in our statistics.

Anything else you'd like to know, just ask! I look forward to a great game.

Anyone know a 'must-visit' restaurant or bar in the Shreveport area? Anything else to do in the area and a reason to stay an extra day before or afterwards in the area as well?

Superior

That was a great scout report for us armchair coaches. Welcome aboard. I like Ralphie.

If you like TexMex food try Superior Bar & Grill. (The old Cadillac's) Shreveport has many casino's and a great Race track (Louisiana Downs). It is usually closed this time of year. Try the "mud bugs" while there. The locals will show you how to eat them. Crawfish tails are better.

What will we see from Bama when we face Colorado?? Something tells me we'll see a totally different gameplan than the previous few games. The past offensive gameplans dont even come close to allowing us another win.. I sure hope the players take this game seriously because Colorado will come to play.. This is BIG to their program. I see this game as a MUST WIN for Bama and a total confidence builder for the future.. I truly hate it for Saban if we do not prevail in this one, the year would only get worse when it seems like it couldnt get any worse than it is.. THIS GAME IS A MUST WIN..

honestly i feel like the seniors are gonna come into this game, at least most of them, ready to play and prove themselves. especially after hearing some of the remarks that DJ, Simeon, Mustin, & Gillberry have said over the last few weeks. and the rest of the team, the underclassmen, wanna show that they can win and will win next season. but i agree with you, not only is this a MUST WIN but we NEED this. everyone.

the coaches need it, the seniors need it, the underclassmen need it, the fans need it. we all need this.

Alonzo Barrett, CU's DE, graduated from my high school. How well has he been doing for you guys?

He had in my opinion a rough first three years but here in his senior season he has put it together. We have a formidable d-line and he is a big reason for it. Very good run stopping de and he gets pressure when he needs to. Dont underrate our d, its really fell apart lately but that is mostly our passing d and a lot of that was without our best db terrance wheatly but he'll be ready to go on the 30th. Hes a game changer and without him we probably lose to csu and texas tech and if we had him I say we beat iowa state. But still our passing defense is weak and I dont know much about you guys but I hope you dont have any game changing recievers or te's because we've been burned all year by them.
