What are your thoughts on these? I grew up in a military family and I served in the US Army. I was also a boy scout so I have always been taught to treat our nation's flag with respect. Am I the only one insulted by these type of mutilations of the US flag? I was actually shocked to see a Bama one.

Never liked 'em to be honest, mostly because I just don't like the way they look. But I don't think the people who make them or buy them have any intention of degraded our American flag, but I could see why someone would see it that way and to be honest can't help but agree that they do in a sense.

Having served in the military, I have a similar view about the flag RollTideinGA.

Similar story, a few weeks ago when the flags were at half mast for 9/11, our US flag was at full mast, but the Texas flag was at half mast. One of the guys in the office, an ex-Marine was really wound up over it, I mean, sent emails, called security, posted on an internal blog that our Plano office didn't have their US flag at half mast and had some pretty strong words with it. Turns out that the pulley was broke and they couldn't get the flag lowered, this person after finding this out didn't really care, he's opinion it should be fixed quickly so that the flag could be at half mast.

As birdman37 suggests, it seems that some people are overly sensitive with the flag. Only when you inquire about why its important do you find out the reasoning... you see, this guy at work lost a friend at the Pentagon during 9/11 and also is very proud of his military commitment.

I agree with Birdman, its not trying to disrespect the U.S.A but showing passion for the team you root for; but at the same time, I don't like the way many look and some people do tend to wear it out and never replace it

So whats wrong with flying a normal collegiate team flag? A simple script A, the UGA G, the Gator head? Why did they have to mimic the US flag. Okay, I'll stop now. I just don't get it. Maybe I'm wrong. Oh well. I served so others can have the right to do whatever they choose. Freedom of speech, right to bare arms or arm bears... lol

You're not wrong lol, its all opinionated, I see your side and what you're getting at but it or the people putting it up just not trying offend or degrade the American flag...

Thank you both for your service. There are people who don't understand the importance of the flag and what it represents.

I think the variations on the flag are gaudy, misguided and stem from what I hope is a lack of understanding. However...

I actually do not like making a physical flag replacing the field of stars, but as a poster/image/artistic representation, I have no issues with it. I tend to have more issues with WHAT they choose to put in its place then with replacing it.

Some examples.

The Tea Party one upsets me more due to the fact its a physical flag.

Wow! Yeah I agree with you on that one.

Unless it's red white and blue with 50 stars...it doesn't matter it's just a flag.
becuase it has some symbolance to the US flag you going to get all up in arms about it?

Many flags of the world resemble our own.
such as...
Malaysia

Liberia
li-lgflag.jpg

Even Greece could be said to be similar. Infact the Island of Navassa uses OUR flag as it's own.
So are we going to invade liberia? hell no. not worth it.
If you want to be upset about what's being done with our flag or it's "likeness" get ticked off @ the muzzies who burn old glory
every friday after prayer. It's even called flag burning friday. next thing you know they'll be offering free wings & zippoes to the 1st 50
muslims to the bonefire. GET PISSED about that man. I am. but not this.

:smiley-no-no-yellow And you right wing sheeple who are pointing out the Obama logo......didn't say crap about the romney logo did ya you ann coultier worshiping.....(can we just load up all the democrats & republicans and put em on a boat & sink it? please!?) :shake:

This is just a red & white striped flag with an A on it. I don't think it's a big deal.
(source for flag info- CIA world factbook) https://www.cia.gov/library/publications/the-world-factbook/docs/flagsoftheworld.html

My father was a Viet Nam vet,(2 tours) his brother was 1st Cav. 2 of their uncles died @ Normandy (one on each side of family- Paternal & Maternal...neaither body was recoved. they died with 2000 yards of each other it is said.) My Grandfather (maternal) served in the Army Air Corp. before he went to WWII as a flight enginer on a B-24-C-109 fuel tanker. (they were shot down by a Zero over Burma & spent the next 7 weeks hiking their way out of the jungle hiding from the Japs. He had to kill 2 of them. I have the Gurkka knife he did em with right here on my desk.) And again in Korea @ K-55 Osan with the 310th Ftr Bomber wing. And his son was also in the AF.
We've had family fight and die in every major conflict this country has fought since it was founded up to & including THIS ONE. Now i understand what your saying....but i'm just saying. there's more things about he flag to get ticked over than this thing which IMO is a trival matter in the grand scheme of things in this country.
my 2 cents.
