šŸˆ College Football Playoff model should be re-examined after recent conference realignment

12 teams in the CFP already makes it likely that at least one conference will have multiple teams. All 12 teams won’t need to win their conference or even play in their CCG. How does reevaluating help?

As it currently stands, the four team PAC champ would get ...

1) home field advantage has been proposed,
2) Auto bid for winning a four team conference,
3) top seeding for winning a four team conference.

Reevaluating isn't the right world.

Restructure.

A conference reloaded with G5s
Which has a record (last 20 years) against P5 teams of ... ?

417 - 1788 for a 0.189 winning percentage.

And that conference deserves an auto-bid? That conference deserves to be one of the top seeds?

As I've said since day one of our playoff conversations the structure it's under will put undeserving teams in the playoffs. Every move we're seeing is following that script.

To take it a step farther ...

Name a game in the newly formed Big 12 the nation will want to watch in the regular season? Now do the PAC. A watered down regular season is here.

They still need to be ranked in the top four nationally to get a bye and home field. Top seeding is unlikely playing three conference teams and nine ā€œothers.ā€

home field advantage has been proposed,

Two reasons I used the word proposed: it was and is still on the table. I was specific with that term bouncing off of a comment on another thread about BYU's ranking, their 1984 season, and how that would work with the PAC and the new Big 12.

Setting semantics and grammar aside ... 😈

I'm still on my soapbox: this needs restructuring, badly. (And I'm not just referring to the playoffs.)

The absurdity of where this stands.

In 2022 the new PAC combined to win 13 games.

Shoulda kept the BCS or anything prior to this playoff madness. They've turned my only remaining favorite sport into an NFL junior division.
OR...

When they started the BCS they should have told the Rose Bowl to go pound sand. Follow me here...

The Rose bowl, their bowl alliances with conferences, their insistence "our game has to be on the 1st!" ... If their legs were cut off before the BCS era, we wouldn't have seen the mess we've seen with the playoff being set up.

It's still the same culprit. It's not the B1G, it's the decisions made years ago by the PAC (with that bowl game in mind.) Of course, those bad decisions have been compounded with more bad decisions...rinse, repeat, relegated (hopefully.)

Go figure!!!

Roll Tide!
Gotta be kidding.....the stupidity of bowls and tie-ins is what moved to bcs and cfps

But we know. The networks and big money....cfps were destiny
....
4 teams were a enticement.....to see how big it could be and still interesting....
And like the nba and nfl....

pour the green on it...watch-it grow
