His response to the last question...will the Bama fans "love" or "tolerate" you?

Seems like a ridiculous question.

Saban says all the right things in his answer.

If I were advising him, I'd suggest he stretch a little when talking about the Bama program & fans, and throw us some good stuff.

He kinda says "they love me while I'm winning"

and sure that's true...but Coach hadn't won a single game at Bama before the first big A day game.

He kinda bristles at the suggestion nothing big has happened at Bama since Coach Bryant, & defends Stallings. (Rightly so.)

I don't think there's a single living person in college football Saban feels a little intimidated by...

But on the other hand, it can be hard trying to exactly pin down what Saban is saying sometimes.

Six national championships with several near misses over a 24 year span...that kind of record could make anybody seem a tad defensive.

I won't go as far as to say the reporter's question was stupid. I think he had a good thought in mind but completely FAILED when asking his question.

My thoughts are the question was trying to elicit a response from Saban about how the fan base feels about him at Bama. He does go an extra step in mentioning "how my I appreciated it."

I've said it a thousand times. Listen to what he says.

In the same bit he talks about how his wife deals with football and the combination of Christmas, Thanksgiving, and their anniversary. The phrase he used was "how much he appreciated..."

If anything, Saban is consistent in what he says—specifically how he "puts it out there."

All that said...I saw a genuine response from him. He appreciates the support he gets as the HFC.
