They're not bad mouthing the team as much as they're disappointed the standard they set is not being lived up to. The penalties wouldn't be a thing if players and coaches held each other accountable. Yet the same mistakes happen week after week. But it's not really fair to put all the blame on the players when they have two really mediocre coordinators who don't properly coach them.

According to Nick....

Golding has done "a really really good job" thisbyear

Unfortunately, if CNS has not seen the culture and standard of Alabama football decline the last couple of years the program is in deep, deep, trouble. I think he knows when he made the statement that it breaks his heart to hear that. On the other hand he said the team got back to more of itself in the third quarter of the Ole Miss. game. He’s the GOAT and will get things back on track. RTR

We will not understand the direction Nick will take until around the 2nd week in January. Coaches that might leave as well as players will be interesting to learn. JMO there is no way Bill returns.

Hopefully this bunch can win these next two games. The Bowl game could find us playing somebody that actually wants to be at the bowl and wants to take out the Tide. Those games don't bode well for us at times.

Just why bowl games vs expanded CFPs are a joke...

Dont be surprised to see half or more of draft eligible players sitting...

Yeah, he knows. I think the issue is he's having a hard time pushing the right buttons to get it fixed. In the past, he's only had to maintain that attitude with the team, not build and cultivate it (other than the first year). Assistants have done a bad job of building it (in their defense, the constant turnover and coaches not familiar with the standard have hurt that). Also, players have done a much poorer job since the 2020 season of doing it. They miss those enforcers who took matters into their own hands so that it didn't have to get handled by the coaches. A good example is a guy like Jonathan Allen... example: during the bowl practices in AZ leading up to the national title game with Clemson, he got so pissed at Tony Brown's practice habits, he blew up, nearly destroyed him, and ultimately kicked him out of the practice. A player did it so Saban didn't have to. These last 2 rosters haven't had that.

I think that's why we will look at transfers and get strong leadership in so the culture is reestablished.

1. This al.com headline/photo combo is just a big tease. Don't get your hopes up.
2. Coach Saban prefers the oatmeal creme pies, not the ice cream.
3. Former players who are badmouthing this year's team breaks his heart.

Nobody was bad mouthing the team. Context is everything.

How many time we hear this every year and it's usually a low #.

I think we'll learn something this year with Clemson and Alabama both out of the Playoffs. Most other teams aren't sitting there with for sure draft picks, so you can't equate sitting out with them as increasing or decreasing. Most are still making their point about where they should be drafted. It'll be interesting to see if Bryce, William, and others play. Will Myles Murphey and Brian Brysee (sp?) still play. Will be interesting to see play out. That'll be the test.
