Alabama offensive coordinator Lane Kiffin made an immediate impact in his first year on the job last season, leading an offense that saw first-year starting quarterback Blake Sims and receiver Amari Cooper break single-season passing and receiving records.

He made an impression on opposing coaches as well.

The Lindy’s College Football Southeastern edition again features comments from opposing coaches on each team, and the section on Alabama included comments on just how important one coach thinks Kiffin is to the team and expectations for the Tide this season.

On second-year offensive coordinator Lane Kiffin: ā€œLast year, without Lane Kiffin, they would have been 8-4, maybe 7-5. They gave up 44 points to Auburn and still won. Without Lane Kiffin, no way in hell Alabama wins the SEC title. He’s proven himself as a great coach on the field. He’s adaptable and the kids play for him.ā€

On expectations for the season: ā€œAlabama should be the best team in the nation for the fourth year in a row and win the national championship. They’ve got 40 guys on the roster that will play in the NFL. Nobody else in the SEC has 25. They’ve got five-stars playing third and fourth team. With their depth, you can never count them out.ā€

The Lindy’s Southeastern edition is out now and the national, Big Ten, Big 12 and ACC regional editions release soon. Each features recruiting content and rankings from 247Sports.

The publication picks Alabama first in the SEC and No. 3 overall in the country.

as pat dye said, "hindsight is 50/50" (still laugh every time i think about him saying that).

what does this coach want? a cookie?

it's probably true, but we'll never know. Coach Saban was smart enough to make the hire and bring in someone he knew would give us the best chance with the players we had.

Well if Ohio State didn't have two great backups they would have lost three games. The hell does that mean or matter? If plenty of teams didn't have certain players or coaches they wouldn't have won something. Print this guy's name, because I wanna know the dumbass that made such a generic statement made to undermine our success.

this is basically what i was thinking as i made my post.

i don't know if this coach is pissed because we made the hire and won the SEC or that he didn't make the hire.

We have who we have. Some hires have worked well, some have not. The talent is there for whomever to coach. Although I opposed the hire loudly at the time, in retrospect it was a brilliant move to hire an OC with a reputation for developing inexperienced quarterbacks.
