| FTBL CNS Post Game PC - Texas

When you play an elite QB and are unable to apply pressure it's a recipe for disaster.

Can we quit calling Ewers elite? A half ass quarterback could have hit those wide open receivers. He buckled any time we got pressure. His success is all on Steele.

You are entitled to your opinions IMO he made many elite throws in the game.

Poor recruiting there (by Bama standards) and poor development of the guys we do sign. We don't have shitty players, and we have some with loads of potential (like Oatis), but in this league, we need more like him. Development is being used against us in recruiting, so it's a catch 22.
I'm more shocked about the edge rushers. Looked like we basically played the two guys last night, and neither of them flashed that I can remember.

And I just cannot, for the life of me understand how that happenned. Is Texas OL just that good? Is our DL that bad? I mean the DL was dominated. If they are just bad...this is going to be a long season.
Should have seen it coming. Phil Steele had Texas OL ranked #4 and Bama DL #16. FWIW, he had Bama OL #22 and Texas DL #22.

Bama plays two more teams with OLs ranked better than #16. Ole Miss at #6 and A$M at #10.

Because he had all day to throw the ball. Go back and see when he was pressured. Texas was off the field in a hurry. Not saying he sucks, but "elite" is a word to describe the best, and he is far from the best. Generational and elite are two words that get used too much these days. Toss in transcendent as well. Elite would imply he's on Bryce Young's level, and he ain't nowhere near Bryce.

Honestly, I want Milroe to succeed.... but those two picks absolutely crippled us. In my opinion, the job is back open, and anyone's for the taking right now. If he could just not make bonehead this like those two, we'd be sitting well. By no means is it all his fault, we have problems almost everywhere right now as a whole team. Out D-line HAS to be able to put pressure on a QB this year, or we'll be seeing this all season. If we do not improve on D-line this year as the season goes on, it might be time to let Roach go, and go with someone else. And it just so happens that a particular guy I'd love to have back was coaching that exact same position group. At some point I'm going to go back over the film(not anytime soon, it still hurts) and watch what all exactly went down. We have to get better at all levels of offense and defense if we're gonna turn this shit around.

I agree with Brandon in that he is a first round draft pick that's elite in my book.

What? We're not developing our DL. What about Will Anderson? But the last great NT was Quinnen Williams 4 years ago. Is it the NT in particular that you are referring too? If so how is that there is now a narrative about not having elite NT players?

NT & Ends. Other school(s) are saying players are not reaching their potential at UA at those spots... we are going head-to-head with UGA and other big time programs for many of those players... UGA has players believing that they are the best path to the NFL now... a lot of it is about salesmanship, but it is hurting UA some.
