On defense, their LB corps is probably the weakest link of the three groups. If you recall, we talked about Clemson's Ray Ray McElrathbey losing his scholly a few months ago. Now, one of their DB's that had been moved to LB and expected to contribute heavily, DeAndre McDaniel, has been arrested for assault in an high and aggravated nature.

No word if he's been suspended as of yet.

Right now, they are looking at two Jr's, Conner and Miller along with a freshman. Conner saw the most action last year...finished the year ranked 11th in total tackles.

Interesting!

Hmmm, there are a lot of things happening to the teams we play. (i.e. Georgia-Moreno issues, LSU-QB issues, MSU-Defense issues, couple of head coaching changes, several teams breaking in new systems, and now Clemson has both O-Line and LB concerns.) Could all this work in our favor this year? I sure hope so!

Moreno? That's new news to me. What happened with him? I haven't heard about that yet.

There have Moreno rumors for a while. Georgia fans were told it isn't anything the NCAA would care about and he didn't get into trouble. The rumors are Richt is disciplining him for some personnel issues. Whether it be ego or whatever, nobody really knows.
Hmmm. Anyway, I hope he's on the field when we played 'em at Sanford Stadium, because I'd like to beat the opponent with their best players, and Moreno is, without question, one of the bests on the gridiron nowadays.

RTR,

I am reminded of the heavy emphasis on the short passing game that we saw in the spring drills...which will test their LB corp. Then I am reminded of the 6yard drag route across the nose of the LBs the went long and for 6 pts.

Picking on the LBs will further isolate the DBs with our WRs. :D

Pick your poison Tigers.

RTR,

yes I agree 100% i like a team to be at their best when we hand it to them.

If you are bored feel free to read Moreno's essay (pdf).

That's good stuff. The "Work Sited" heading might be the best part.

More about the Clemson player who was arrested.

CENTRAL — Clemson University football player DeAndre McDaniel was arrested and charged with assault and battery of a high and aggravated nature after a woman reported an incident at McDaniel’s off-campus apartment, according to Central police.

According to a report filed at the Central Police Department, a 19-year-old woman, whose name was not released, said she was choked and hit in the face with a fist, threatened and punched in the chest.

The woman was treated at Oconee Memorial Hospital for chest and facial contusions and a neck sprain.

McDaniel, 20, played extensively as a freshman and was listed as a backup at safety after spring practice. A top prospect out of Godby High School in Tallahassee, Fla., he chose Clemson over Alabama, Auburn, Florida and Florida State.

McDaniel appeared in all 13 games and was on the field for 438 snaps — more than any other Clemson freshman. He was selected to the Atlantic Coast Conference all-freshman team.

McDaniel is a sociology major.

"We are aware of the situation and are in the process of collecting the facts," said Tim Bourret, an athletic department spokesman.

"Site #1" ROTFLMAO!!!

From the Clemson perspective here, looks like the tide is turning on this story. No pun intended. From the time this happened McDaniel strongly proclaimed his innocence. Now some independent witnesses from outside the apartment have come forth and said that the girl in question exxagerated the story and that most of what was initially reported is untrue. Also, apparently the charges will now either be dropped, or more likely, significantly reduced. Of course I wasn't there so I've got no idea what happened, but I wanted to pass along the latest news on this.

I've seen and heard the same thing from a few Clemson friends of mine.

Invite some of your friends over...we are all looking forward to ATL.

While the paper is poorly written and contains spelling errors, it is not *THAT* far from being MLA compliant. If he fixed the heading, the parentheticals and the "Sited" (referencing electronic sources correctly) he would have been OK. Much ado about nothing imo. Someone needs to get that boy a MLA style guide, or forward him to the Online Writing Lab of Purdue University - it is great.

MLA Style notwithstanding, Knowshon's essay is not a research paper. It's more like a day in the life of Knowshon. I'm not sure it is even two pages. But it IS really funny. The best part is his reply to the request to do a backflip in his room during quiet hours. HIlarious.
