CLEMSON, SC -- Clemson receiver Hunter Renfrow has spent the past two weeks in the QB meeting room and taking reps behind center, a scenario required because of Kelly Bryant's abrupt departure last week. And while Renfrow said he's always eager to fill a need, he's frustrated by the new redshirt rule that allows players to leave a program midseason.

"I don't like having to worry about that," Renfrow said. "Now Week 4 every year is going to be the trade deadline, and everyone is going to make decisions. I don't like that part of it. When you commit to a school, when you commit to a team, that's your team, right?"

I would wager that it gets revised pretty quickly to be 4 games RS rule for Freshman and 4 game played rule for any year regarding injury....

IE, they'll do away with the 1st half of the year requirement on injury and change it to any 4 games or less for injury and any 4 games or less for Freshman (non-injury).

I understand what you are saying but I personally do not believe they will change it i.e. weaken it. I think if anything over the next 5-10 you will see more movement toward a true free agency atmosphere in CFB

I don't believe they'll be able to figure that out. It's too much of an issue of transferring credits.

Actually, it's week 4+. As I understand the rule, it's says four games, not the first four games. So a lot of freshmen can play in no more than four games and then leave in December/January and still have four years of eligibility spent at a JC then transfer to FBS, or go to a FCS school.

The rule already was if you went down with an injury and played in only four or less games you could get a medical redshirt. Dont'a Hightower received one for the 2009 season.

I believe that was 30%. I know it had to happen in the first part of the season.
