🏈 Circle button

I was told by a player that the team calls Eddie Lacy "Circle Button." I asked why and he told me that Eddie has the "nastiest" spin move they have seen. He likened Eddie's spin move to that of the players on X-Box when you hit the "Circle Button." After I stopped laughing, I thought this was the one of the best nicknames that I have heard in awhile. I want a hat with the state of Alabama on it, with a "Circle Button" over Tuscaloosa. :td:

It is a pretty move but i cringe and hold my breath everytime he starts dancing. when he starts eluding he holds the ball out away from his body making it an easy target for a strip or to be just plain old knocked out.

It's not a Lacy thread if the word fumble doesn't show up.

Seriously we all know he had a few fumbles early in his playing career but I think he's proven that he and the coaches have worked on that. Just wished people would get off the whole fumble thing but I know most wont. We'll still be talking about his lack of ball handling skills for many many years....

That being said he has impressed me more than TR this season, so far. And yes he has a nasty spin move! RTR

He looks more like the starter so far, imo.

*sigh* I dont know what irritates me more, ppl bringing up "fumbling" when talking about Lacy or this... if Lacy was the starter it would be "I dont know, i think Trent is the better back". What makes it that much more irritating is that I can remember the "Ingram is good...but I think Trent is the better back" comments from 2009 on. Good lord, our fanbase.

I don't know what it is...seems as though he has had an easier time bouncing outside when the hole is not there. Maybe he's a little bit hungrier. I'm not sure what it is, but I have found myself thinking the same thing at times.

Now, I'm not claiming that Eddie Lacey is the better player...because that simply is not the case right now. We'll see how Eddie does when he is up against SEC defenses...

I got flamed for saying the Eddie Lacy was a clone of Earl Campbell. Before he is done at UA, I think others will make that comparison as well. People remember him as being the 260 pound beast he was on juice in the NFL. In college he was about Eddie's size.

I did not intend to make comparisons between the two. Nobody wants to hit and tackle these two for four quarters. I think they compliment each other very well. I just liked the kids being kids, and I thought it was funny when the story was told to me. I think he may have said PS3, but i could not tell you the difference. Either way, whichever has the Circle Button, is where the name came from. It still cracks me up.

I would cringe even if it wasn't lacy....

I like that fact that a player is hungry and tries his hardest to get every yard he can. But sometimes in the process of stretching the play they can get careless. on the other hand they can end up busting a 60 yard run??? Risk vs. Reward. Eddie has done really well and i appreciate is effort.

Doesnt matter to me if it's lacy, richardson, ingram, etc.... was just bringing up football fundementals...not meant to bring up his past mistakes

I am wondering does 1st string back wear them out and 2nd string gets the results because defense is tired and 2nd string back is fresh. Because it seems that alot of time the 1st string comes back in fresh and runs a long one. Saw this for the last several years with Saban's team.

:no-no: I think there is a little more to it than just pulling for a second team back in this case. It is just a fact that Lacy has looked better so far. Statistically Lacy is better. Lacy has been more successful at finding open running lanes. Lacey has been better at causing the first man to miss. I think Lacey has even looked better catching the ball out of the backfield. So far Lacy has looked better. This does not mean that Richardson is not a great running back or that by the end of the season he will look like the best running back but so far it is Lacy who has surprisingly:shock: looked like our best running back. I said "so far".

They are both very good backs. I am just enjoying that instead of trying to figure out which one is better. Either one can take it to the house on any given touch.
I am sure circle button could be shorted to just CB.
Still want to know what happened to my post count...had over a thousand now 560. ;)
