🏈 Chris Black Transferring?

I think Saban gets on Tony the way he does is because he KNOWS what Tony COULD be if he could just get his temper under control and do things the way he is being told to. He could def. be an All American type of talent. Now, whether he goes that route or decides to leave like other big time recruits at that position have is completely on him. I remember a few years ago, maybe the same class with Barron, a big time CB recruit left for reasons like that.

That's one transfer I was speaking of. Big recruit, pre-season chatter about his contributing, played some, but not a first stringer. Alright Birdman, Smart gone, one transfer announced. Not sounding like bullshit as much.
What's going on with Lane might throw a wrench in bragging about what you know, or don't know.

@TerryP you hearing this as well?

On a side note with Tony Brown getting his ass chewed. I remember CNS talking about "knowing" his players and their personalities. He discussed where he had to know them is such a way as to get the proper response out of them when coaching. He said, "I have to know if he responds to a pat on a back and positive reinforcement, or an ass chewing". I actually ask him about personality testing one time. He said that he used to do that, but over the years he has got good enough at reading people that after spending time with his players he knows if they clam up after an ass chewing or if they buck up and play better after it.

You can see the differences in QBs. He rarely ever losses his cool with Coker, no matter the mistake, but he would absolutely verbally destroy AJ. I think Brodie Croyle would have been truly special if Nick Saban was his coach, or he would have left the team one or the other. Better knees would have helped too.

Why would Brown transfer? I think Minkah will stay at the star position and Brown will likely compete in starting on the opposite end of Humphrey. Brown contributed a good bit his freshman year and even started some games.

You have to be able to read kids. I can recall coaching a kid that played LB for me. He absolutely didn't respond to a pat on the back. He absolutely ate nails and ran through brick walls after I chewed that ass!!! I had a QB that was he exact opposite! I chewed his ass in a jr high basketball game for dribbling into a trap. He clammed up and couldn't dribble and chew gum the rest of the night. I learned real quick to put my arm around him and coach him up.

As the season had gone on, Mo Smith won the backup Star role when Minkah was out. Decent possibility Minkah moves to full time CB along with Humphrey, and TB could be on outside looking in if Mo Smith beats him out.

Tony filled in for Minka when he went down in the Miss State game with the twisted knee ahead of Mo.

So would have if DJ Hall would have given a rat's ass...

Yeah I sort of see this happening. I saw somewhere that Brown may be able to move to safety a la Eddie and still have a role. I could kind of see that, but it also means Hootie ain't doing shit... still.

Brodie barely even played with DJ tho. If DJ was THAT good without given a rats ass, he really coulda been something if he did...

I took my young son to the Western Carolina game, the one where Brodie tore his ACL. A lot of people raised holy hell about Shula leaving Brodie in that late, but I got it. The offense wasn't clicking at all. The TDs were a short-yard situation because of a turnover, a punt return, and I think pick six...There may have been another offensive TD. Brodie threw two passes to Hall in the end zone, one of which went right through Hall's hands.

I think if Hall catches at least one of those, Brodie is able to come out of the game and maybe...maybe we wouldn't have lost him for the season.

Nope, never blamed Shula for that loss. Hall, yes.
