🏈 Chris Allen's rehab. He's started running again in the zero gravity machine.

He won't make it back in time, will he?

On a similar note - Let's say T. Lewis does make it back in time for the playoffs. This dude will be going into his senior season and only appeared in like 18 games! And most of those were as freshman in garbage time.... He only had 7 tackles that season.

Long story short I hope C. Allen gets a RS year and comes back as a beast next season. Coming into this season it appeared Jennings may be headed to the draft but haven't seen him on that radar whatsoever. Jennings, Hall, Allen, Latu, Enoma.... If they're all healthy (for once) that's a spectacular group

I don't see any other possibility than a RS. He played in seven games last year and hasn't seen the field this season. We're not going to see him against LSU, MSU, or The Citadel. I certainly don't expect him back by Auburn, but if he was he'd still qualify.

Lets say T-Lewis makes it back by Auburn. He hasn't played at all up until then. Lets say he plays Auburn, SEC Title and playoffs. Could he still get a redshirt?

I would think a medical redshirt might count the same for both of them. barn, SECCG, playoff #1, NC...Just four games.

That won't come into play with Allen because he hasn't used his true redshirt year. In essence, the NCAA isn't going to approve a hardship waiver with the RS still on the table.

Yes, because he hasn't used his either. He'd fall under the four game clause.

Personally, I have doubts Lewis uses the RS and have doubts we'll see him in Crimson next season.

**If the four game redshirt rule was in place last season Lewis could have claimed his shirt in '17. As I recall, he missed 10 of the 14 games.

Eeeesh... Seems like he will need to be healthy to get paid on that first contract. But maybe he and his family just think one more injury and he's completely SOL... So go while you can?

Would have to be a now or never type of outlook.
I made my comment based on the thought that he will be thinking "why take another year in college and risk another injury when I can go to the NFL now and look forward to that second contract."

I suspect he's really close to graduating considering the amount of down time he's had these last two years.

He may go... but I would be surprised to see him anywhere near the 1,2,3 rounds. Maybe mid to late at best?

There are a lot of things that are different in these two stories...to me, it reminds me a lot of Vinnie Sunseri and his (dads) decision.
Vinnie had a lot of tape on him... Lewis, not so much. He may grade out well at the combine, which would help...

Problem is, average career of a LB in the NFL is 3 years. With him having multiple years of injury, I would think his stock is pretty low ATM. It would rise a good bit with at least one year starting the entire year; however that risk of a 3rd injury may be too great.

Sometimes it comes down to just making it in whatever round it is... He may be on that boat. I wouldn't blame him at all either...

Fair points. But I'm assuming the math would say that at his measurables, if he's able to put together even a decent season for his standards he's going to make more after next year than this year. I'll leave that to Saban though :D

Unless of course the parents aren't feeling him... Maybe his agent will win out

Lewis will play 3-4 games this year, which will qualify him for a RS, but he'll probably go to the draft anyway after the season.

He's got 2 career sacks and 2 serious injuries.... Would have to be a now or never type of outlook.

Probably would have a lot to do with it.

He could also come back and spearhead the D to another national title. Getting sacks the final 4 games - Auburn, SECCG vs Georgia, then vs Michigan/ND/Oklahoma, and finally Clemson, would be a nice springboard to helping his draft stock.
