I've heard the same complaints over the CNS era about the IB. While I don't necessarily agree with those critics, there is something to be said about the professional ball, process driven mindset that a Saban or Harbaugh (albeit different personalities in MANY ways as individuals) bring to the college game.
The thought is to take one game at a time and control emotions to not not swing too high or too low for any given game. A lot is to be gained, as evidenced by 5 NCs, for this approach. But, in the losses to Auburn, one can almost see/feel a tangible difference in the Auburn players efforts and desire to beat Bama, where the Bama business approach seems almost indifferent in a game where neither team should come out flat.
