Pete loves him some UGA. Every year. Will never be accused of underrating them.

No one would complain if this turned out to be part of the 2017 College Football Playoff. USC has the talent and offensive pop to take an okay-but-not-great Pac-12, while Alabama is out to show that it’s business as usual with a new offensive backfield, some new starting defensive linemen, and a bunch of question marks. Alabama will get the love because it’s Alabama in an opening week game, but USC has been traditionally dominant in openers, too. Clay Helton’s team will come out smoking, but the run defense will break down late.

Don't forget playing a team from a power conference is required.

(With all the talk from other conference coaches about SEC schedules late in the year, you don't see teams like theirs stepping up and scheduling one of the SEC teams, do you?)

Yes, but some teams are willing to play the upper side of the power 5 conference. I give the barn kudos for Clemson, even though it's a home and home and I'm sure they may not have known about Watson when they signed up. Also, ole miss taking on Florida St., Arkansas @ TCU, TAMU playing UCLA also takes a little SEC moral fiber. It's been a tradition with Bama.

I've also noticed some conferences legislating more toughness back into their schedule. Big ten going to 9 conference games is a change. They legislated FCS schools off the schedule starting this season.

I give the barn kudos for Clemson, even though it's a home and home and I'm sure they may not have known about Watson when they signed up.

They agree to the series about this time of the year, back in 2014. Since they were one of probably two dozen schools with written offers out to Watson, I'm pretty sure ol' Gus knew (though no telling how long they'd been discussing the series.)

As I recall Watson was one of those kids who committed about two years before his NSD ... stuck with Clemson.

"Opening weekend is set for the acc. If Clemson and Fsu win over two sec west teams the media will love it. I think that is why you see all the auburn hype right now. Not that auburn can't be better than the last couple years but what have they done to warrant the top in the nation hype some are giving them? This is set up to justify acc hype as well as give ammo to down play the sec west."
