In today’s media age where the prevailing thought is controversy, speculation, and opinionated reporting rules the day, today is a day to simply rue.
We’ve all read articles and reports from beat writers we disagreed with. Some of our fan base adopts what seems like a vitriolic hatred towards some writers. Some I see as justified, others I see as taking an opinion too personally. After all, it’s just another’s viewpoint.
We have been fortunate to have writers covering Alabama athletics who have done serviceable jobs. We’ve been blessed to have a few, here and there, that have done outstanding work. They’ve supplied concise, factual reporting on the good and bad of the events that have transpired at the Capstone.
Here at the end of June, 2012, we are losing one of those outstanding beat writers in Michael Casagrande. He announced a few weeks ago that he accepted a job in Ft. Lauderdale for the Sun Sentinel covering the Miami Hurricanes.
I can’t think of a person who has come on the scene of Alabama football at a more opportune time. Michael started in 2009 as the Tide once again hoisted the Crystal Ball. Now, he leaves after seeing the program celebrate its second championship in his time with us.
