šŸˆ Can college football do anything about the length of games?

I say kill two birds with one stone by preventing the offense from snapping the ball until after a minimum of 10 seconds elapse from the play clock and also allow independent defensive substitutions.

You shorten the game AND you level the playing field between offense and defense.

Thoughts?

Eliminate the question / interview of the coach before and after halftime by the eye candy reporter. But of course keep the eye candy reporter on the sideline otherwise during the game.

I pay a lot of money for my tickets. Making the games shorter doesn't make the payback more valuable.

That being said, eliminate the TV timeouts. Commercials can only be run during change of possession. All timeouts are 30-second timeouts.

Seriously....anybody that believes the commercial time will be reduced is living in Fantasy Land.....
Look for more...not less coming.....
I doubt that stopping clock after first downs adds much time....might...maybe only in last 5 minutes of half an end of game
1...start the game on time... plenty of air time for talking heads before game time... if it says 3:30 kickoff... kick the damn ball at 330
2...do coin toss 30 minutes before kick off...
It adds nothing to game...coaches already have their strategies..330 have ball on tee and lets go
3..officials need to pick up pace of game..dont need a conference on every penalty..official signals penalty to head official..none others disagree..mark it and lets go
4..nfl has 12 minutes for half time...that's plenty of time...sec games are 20...
5...and overtime..move ball back to 40 instead of 25...so at least u have to have some O before kicking FG...

Probably more ideas ...realistic ideas... out there

Someone already said it but I will reiterate.....there is NO FREAKING WAY they will ever shorten or cut commercials. Revenue baby!!

That being said, let the play clock run after a first down for certain.
End play review... I don't necessarily agree with it but it would shorten the game
No more PAT....let the touchdown simply be 7 points....eliminate two point conversion as well

Demand networks cut commercial time in half. If anyone ( NCAA, schools, network et al) is worried about loss of revenue, double the price of the commercials.

One thing CBS/ESPN/Fox could do is get "official sponsors" each week for a shit load more and just have limited commercial breaks with those few sponsors getting the commercials. Then again it would be the conferences demanding this.

The season is far too short and I have no real interest in shortening the game. Instead, let's inject another bye week and play some regular season football in December.

Would anyone argue that the 40-second clock instituted into the sport has everything to do with the up-tempo approach that has allowed teams to get in 100 plays in a game? College football decided to make the sport an offensive marathon and let them correct that aspect of the game if they like.

They don't want to cut commercials because it gives them more real estate but if they could make more by having exclusive quarter sponsors and do like soccer... no tv timeouts. The advertiser will pay for exclusivity and it cuts out a bunch of clutter. The only person who loses is the local network who loses out on their space but that could me made up with longer quarter and half time breaks instead of halftime shows

Yo can cut commercial tme and still make the same revenue.

Absolutely!!!!

Guess what? The game is 60 minutes long. In reality the only way to shorten "THE GAME" is make it 59 minutes or whatever. What's making the games long is commercials, commercials, commercials.....

What burn my butt, and it not a flame this high either. Is that sometime you come back and one play has been played. It also happen while I'm listening to the game on the radio too. Are went Gary showing that replay like the 4th or 5th time and you miss the next play.
