That I'm not so sure about. Why, in your view?

Compounding costs. Good numbers on things are hard to find and FBS/FCS means little overall to all sports so I am including all D1.

NCAA says D1 has ~170k athletes. Assuming they are evenly split across 5 years of eligibility, that is 34k coming out every year. At around $350 per month for insurance (below the average listed for a 22 year old), that is an extra $856,800,000 per year they would have to pay out (34K*350*12*6). Now, that splits across 231 D1 schools. That comes up to $3.7 million per school. According to statistics, 76% of schools make less than $50 million in revenue per year and 44% make less than $20 million. Which would be cut to $24 million and $9.6 million under that 52% sharing garbage. Bama could handle it. Mississippi State maybe not so much.

@TerryP Suppose demand is the right word...but could be wrong.

Given that the NCAA and conference leadership have not asked for our input, we feel compelled to call for clarity, commitment, and action regarding our common-sense proposal below.

We have started a dialogue in good faith with the Big Ten and hope that the NCAA will follow suit. Given the short time frame, and with our season at stake, this conversation must happen now.
