I dont think it’s unreasonable if city has to provide extra police for rowdy’s....

Alcohol sales is a terrible idea...
people are packed in close as is....dont need the trouble

So this works out and gives bama an out for alcohol sales
Extra police have nothing to do with it, the athletics dept, pays for them anyways…
Greedy politicians trying to bleed everything they can put of a cash cow

All of this can be true...

-The city is looking for a money grab and is using their power over this to do it.

-The University takes advantage of the city's police (and fire) workforce during home games by not helping with the substantial cost burdens.

-Too many officers and resources are used for most (if not all) games and scaling that back would make a lot of sense.

-This will get worked out, a deal will be made, and at some point alcohol will be served.

-Walt Maddox is a bitch.

What do you think the odds are for Maddox to be re-elected?
If he gets into a pissing contest with the university.......which it looks as though he has. Slim to none on the re-election. The university can get someone in office to "play nice" with them.

I liken it the gas tax that Me-maw passed after getting elected last go round as govenor. She was paying the coffers that got her in there.

All but alcohol....but ....if it means getting another dollar ...bama will do it

They’ll get it worked out. The city just wants help covering the costs for game day security (which is fair up to a point). The whole alcohol umbrella tax stuff is just the vehicle they are trying to use to get it (which isn’t fair).

Under this guise:

the venue does not fit neatly into the category of a bar or restaurant, which typically obtains licenses for on-premise consumption of booze.

What's the BBQ type event Tuscaloosa holds? Cityfest? Events at other locales around Tuscaloosa like the Amphitheater. They don't "neatly fit" in that category as well but from my point of view it seems they're being treated completely differently.
