🏈 Bryant-Denny decibel record broken during win over LSU

They're architecturally designed better to hold in noise. BDS is not, which I wish down the road they'd fix. Make the seats steeper.
Neyland, Tiger Stadium, Bryant-Denny, Sanford, almost all stadiums aren’t built or designed to hold in noise. They’re designed and built based on the footprint of land available. BDS has been expanded multiple times from the initial capacity of 12,000. The expansion has resulted in many structures being demolished on three sides of what exists now. During these expansions, it would have cost much more to change the slope of the stands to retain crowd noise.

How long have they been keeping this stat?
Since 1992 at least . .

During a 1992 game against Nebraska, Husky Stadium reached a level of 133.6 decibels, which remains the most noise ever recorded during a college football game.

Maybe I worded it incorrectly. But Neyland and Death Valley are both designed better to make for a louder environment. BDS is a beautiful stadium, but I wish it was just a tad steeper to help create a louder environment. I doubt it will ever change though, as it wouldn't be cost effective.

Same issue with Coleman… that one will eventually be fixed. One of the nice things about the upper decks at BD though is the steepness… makes for a much more comfortable experience for tall people. Same for the baseline seating in Coleman.

I wish they wouldn't replace Coleman. Going to hate to see it go. Hopefully, it will be at least six more years from now.
