šŸˆ BREAKING: Michigan vs Ohio State cancelled per Bruce Feldman

Odd begining and end to a press release.

Definitely changing the rules for the championship game. Still, Ohio State will have played a total of 6 games, with 2 maybe 3 being ranked when they played them. Coastal Carolina has played 10 so far with 2 more scheduled, including 2 maybe 3 teams ranked when they played them. My playoff votes goes to Coastal Carolina over Ohio State. Don't care what anyone thinks about what they could have done, it is what they did.

Saw there was a push...whatever that is...to match up osu and AnM...both open because of covid

would be a game worth watching

That's a make or break for A&M. If they play and lose, they're out of the CFP. If they win, they're most likely in. But, they could just wait and see what happens with tOSU and their in/out of the B1G championship game and the ND-Clemson rematch.

The press release by the B1G talks about transparency but it does not appear the B1G conference commissioner was aware Michigan had cancelled initially. Maybe I am reading that wrong.

There might be some last-minute attempts by top 10 teams to orchestrate a play-in game. I would expect conferences to allow it if it gives their team a chance to move into the top four. I also think CFP is getting pressure to move back their final determinations a week, that would allow for these play-in moves.

The Big 12 reentering the discussion is bogus given the current one loss teams. Texas A&M at 9-1 with just a loss to Bama and a win over FL should be ahead of any Big 12 team. A two-loss FL team, assuming it loses in the SECC game, with losses to just Bama and A&M, should be ahead of any Big 12 team. ND, assuming they lose no more than their ACCC game, should be above any Big 12 team. If Clemson loses again to ND, there will be table pounding that they should be let in. Absent a loss to Arkansas, Bama is in.

There is the arrogance of some conferences of "this is my conference champion, they deserve to be in the playoff", and the 2020 reality of "perhaps one OOC game following our conference championship game will put us over the top". I'd love to see Bama sit a week, along perhaps ND and/or Clemson, and watch a weekend of FL, A&M, Cincy, Ohio State, Big 12 winner, and the Fightin' Mullets all playing and making a case for number 4.

Sounds like a 8 team playoff....

BYU and Coastal never had a chance at the big show. They had nothing to lose and everything to gain.

TAMU doesn't have the juice to beat Ohio State, they have better odds of playing out their schedule as is.

Ohio State on the other hand will need help. 5 games shouldn't qualify a team for post seasons play, regardless of Covid.
