🏈 BREAKING: Alabama grants release to DB Marcus Smith, pending SEC waiver ruling.

While I agree with Stephen A's points for the most part, having the government interrupt is actually un-American. America is a free country run by free enterprise, yet you want to government to come in and force their will on someone? I only agree with him going because he received his degree. It's the single best thing he has ever done with his life is getting that diploma, and I feel he deserves the right to do what he wants. To rebut Kellerman's hot headed response, Coach Saban more than likely knows what's better for that kid than anyone else in his life. That's not always the case, but someone that's been there and done that and obviously shown a ton of success undoubtedly knows his player through these college years of growth better than anyone knows what's better from a football prospective. Never cared for Kellerman, because to me he just yells at the camera and simply can't argue a point without putting someone down or yelling so loud they can't respond.

Thought this was interesting... Former Alabama QB, Parker McCleod joined UGA as a walk on. One of the more puzzling Bama signings under Saban, the red rocket is hoping to catch fire for Kirby...

Georgia has reportedly added another former Alabama player after landing ex-Tide defensive back Maurice Smith during the weekend.

Former Alabama quarterback Parker McLeod has joined the Bulldogs as a walk-on, according to 247Sports.

A three-star recruit, McLeod was part of Alabama's 2013 recruiting class.

McLeod transferred to Western Kentucky in 2014 after redshirting during his one year with the Tide and then left Western Kentucky in January 2015 after just one season with the team.

He has been enrolled at Georgia since last year, according to 247.

He didn't play football last season.

I can't recall if it was Brohm, or if it was a statement from the WKU Athletic Department ... but one of those two said when PM left WKU he was headed to a school that didn't play football.

It sounds like Parker is unsure of what he wants to do.

Having spent time at Alabama, WKU, sitting out a year and now at UGA sounds like he's almost out of eligibility. He only gets five years to play four. The most he could have left right now is two years.

College football isn't free enterprise ... that's why it's called college football. Hell, the NFL is heavily subsidized by local and state governments too, not to mention Pentagon funds and special antitrust immunity from the feds.

Lol, not okay for government to force its will on someone else ... but okay for a civilian to force their will on someone else???

Moreso a comment on America in general. It's not the government's job, plain and simple, no matter which party you lean with. Slice it how you want, but the founding fathers never intended for government to get where it's at, muchless weighing into college football transfer requests.

lol.

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — This is all new to Maurice Smith. Smith’s a senior and a grizzled veteran as far as college players go, but losing thing is tough to take.

Georgia’s loss to Florida on Saturday represented the Bulldogs’ fourth this season. That’s more than Smith lost the last two seasons at Alabama and one short of his entire three-year tenure there (37-5).

“These losses are kind of hard,” Smith said after Georgia’s 24-10 loss to Florida on Saturday. It dropped the Bulldogs to 4-4 overall and 2-4 in SEC play.

“People are down,” Smith said. “But the good thing is nobody is pointing fingers. We’re all united as one team and we know we have potential to get better. That’s one thing we have to do.”

Smith could still be playing for the No. 1-ranked and currently undefeated Crimson Tide. But in a rather high-profile and contested move, he chose to take advantage of the NCAA’s graduate transfer rule and follow Kirby Smart to Georgia. Smart was his coordinator at Bama.

Smith’s a starter at nickelback and a defensive regular for the Bulldogs, as he’d hoped. And he had some big plays against the Gators. He recorded a 15-yard sack of quarterback Luke Del Rio and finished with four tackles.

It’s just the losing he didn’t envision. Nevertheless, Smith said he wouldn’t change a thing.

“It’s easy to win and be on a winning team and everything’s all good,” said Smith, who has 30 tackles, an interception and three pass break-ups. “But you really find out more about yourself when times get hard. You’ve got people looking at you to be a leader and to make plays when you need to. I love the fact that I came here and I have no regrets.”

Winning and losing, Smith pointed out, is not what this move was all about. He’s also taking a full load of graduate-study classes and hopes to get through before giving the NFL a shot after this season.

“It’s a load,” Smith said. “It’s graduate school. I love it though. Hopefully I’ll get my public health degree soon. I’m working hard on it. I’m working as hard in the classroom as I am on the field.”

Meanwhile, Smith said him and his old teammates stay in regular contact. Sometimes they exchange pleasantries, sometimes there’s some healthy razzing.

“I talk to those guys every weekend,” he said as he sat in a lower concourse outside the Bulldogs’ locker room at EverBank Field. “They’re probably blowing my phone up now. …

“It’s easy when you’re winning but it shows true character when you’re losing and you’re down and it’s hard. The situations we’ve been put in as a team and I’ve been put in personally are going to help me in life later one.”

You know what he could do! Wear his SECW ring, also his SECC ring, also his Cotton Bowl ring, Fiesta Bowl ring, and then the College Playoff ring! You think His coach would also wear his too!!:D:rolf: Just to show the UGA players and Fans what it look like!
