Have you seen the latest sound-off post? Here is the link:

These Barners sure are full of themselves putting down Bama aren't they? "Bama is the little brother." "Auburn has won the last 7 of 9" etc., etc. Were we that obnoxious directly at Auburn last year? Hard to judge when you're in the middle of it. Maybe Duder and Foshman will chime in.
Anyway, I find that 7 of the last 9 stat amusing in its convenience for the Auburn fan that uses it to establish that Bama is now the little brother. It conveniently uses Tubberville's six in a row. Mind you, Tubby who is persona non grata at Auburn these days, but did deliver Auburn's longest streak - the second longest in the series. Second, that is, to Bama's 9 in a row.
Anyway, I got to thinking how I might select some "convenient" time periods myself to play up our side a bit. Let's start with:
- We have won two of the last three
Or
- We won 7 of 10 in the 90's
Or
- We have won 22 of the last 40 to Auburn's 18
- 29 of the last 50 to Auburn's 21
- And going back to 1950, 35 of the last 61 to Auburn's 26
Or
- We won 8 of 10 in the 60s and 8 out of 10 in the 70s
Or
- We won a record 9 in a row
Or
- We have more shut-out victories, and the largest margin of victories
Or
- We have the overall lead 40-34-1
It could go on and on. The bottom line is that it's a great rivalry and we have a lead overall and in some interesting categories. I think the "little brother" thing goes beyond the Iron Bowl and that's what alot of Barner's apparently don't understand. It comes first and foremost from:
- 13 NCs to 2
But it also includes:
- Bama has the most NCAA Bowl appearances (58) and victories with 33. Auburn has 36 bowls with 21 victories
- Bama has 26 Conference Championships and 22 SEC titles, Auburn has 11 and 7 respectively.
- Since Western Division inception Bama has 7 SEC Title games and Auburn has 4.
- 802 wins for Bama vs. 710 for Auburn
- Bama has an NCAA record; 31 10-wins seasons, 22 10-game win streaks, and 16 10-0 starts - All NCAA records.
- Bama is #3 All-time on Billingsly and Auburn is #14
- ESPN's All-Time Prestige Rankings Bama is #6, Auburn is #21
Etc., Etc.
I'll stop now. Just a little fun on a dull Tuesday during lunch break. But to all us Roll Tiders, let's remember the behavior of so many Barners and next time we win it, let's "act like we've been there before" - because we have.
