📝 Black's impact on Dorian-Green Beckhem

Presuming that the 7"/50 lb difference between them would not place them head-to-head fighting for the same position on a roster (see J. Jones and M. Maze example), how does the commitment of 5'11"/170 lbs WR Chris Black impact our recruiting of 6'6"/220 lbs WR Dorial-Green Beckhem?

Also, what do we know about our standing with DGB now that summer practice has the coaches off the road?

The staff certainly feels positive about where we are with DGB. That said, no one, I mean no one, can get a read on what he's thinking from him because he's just been impossible to reach and get "public" comments. The same goes for those around him.

I don't see Black's verbal having any effect. In fact, it might be considered a plus because teams aren't going to want to leave Black in single coverage with a linebacker, as example.

I'd keep an eye out on Amari Cooper.

DGB appears, atleast at face value, to be all business......no showboating or playing to the media.

That wording sparked a troubling feeling inside me, recalling the sad "its all so overwhelming" face that Cyrus put forth last year. Regardless of where he goes, I pray that the young man is neither overwhelmed nor being a "playa".

My personal, Crimson-flavored, opinion is that this would be a GREAT spot for him...provided he does not have to have his hand held or be spoken to with soft fluffy words and tones.

Cyrus had his reasons for saying the recruiting last year was overwhelming. I will not get into the specifics here, but the crap he dealt with is just...well, crap. All I'll say is Troopa...

I wouldn't think it has any impact at all. DGB is in a class unto himself. He will get PT, and early PT, anywhere.

I agree with what others said above. He is so damn hard to get a read on. I thought our recruitment of him was dead and he showed up for an unofficial recently, fortunately it happened to be on a big recruiting weekend. If I remember correctly he and Pike are friends and Pike had been campaigning to get him to take a visit. The kid is a monster. He is a kid in a fully-grown man's body.

And yes, before anyone mentions it, I wish AU would tell Pike to stay the hell off Twitter. My excitement over signing him has waned. Remember, we stopped recruiting Winston because Pike committed. If it weren't for baseball, I'd be super mad

Thx given...

After watching the kid last weekend on tv, I have one word to describe him "ANIMAL". Listening to the brodcast leads me to think that he will stay in state at Missouri because of the health of his brother. His brother was diagnosed with Luekemia and is undergoing treatments now. I believe they said something like 108 weeks of Chemo left. They did name us among the contenders and said that family would play a huge role in his decision. With the health of his brother in question, I think he stays home where he can always get back to family if needed.
With that said, Damn!! i would love to see him in Crimson next fall.
