| FTBL Bio on coach interviewed last night....

Leads one to draw the conclusion that Loeffler is being interviewed as a QB position coach only. Would imply that Pendry will still be the person in charge of the offense - possibly to the point of actually calling the plays on gameday.

Color me underwhelmed if so. Not so much with Loffler per se, but in the other part.

I don't know. There is also the buzz that Hatcher is interviewing today. Would Loeffler be brought in as a QB and Hatcher as OC? Do we have room for two??

He has done a nice job with the QB's. They are all prostyle QB's though. I am not sure how he would do with duel-threat type Qb's which I hope Bama goes to.

Seems we have two members of the old staff gone - Middleton (in my opinion the greater loss of the two departures) and Applewhite.

Bobby Williams is on board (he has a fabulous reputation in the business) already. Seems to be room for only one more - unless someone else leaves.

I doubt any of the 'name' names - Sarkisian or Crowton (neither in my opinion anything more than a dream) or Hatcher or Brohm, would take the job under the condition they share control over the system or gameplan or play calling with Pendry. And if they did, I personally would be unimpressed with their decision making.

Why the hell can't they bump Pendry down to just O-line?
Well, I guess 'they' could. But since the only 'they' that has any input into the decision - Saban, doesn't seem to want to do that it will most likely not happen.

In my personal opinion, about the only members of offensive side of the staff that did a winning job last year were Middleton and Burns. Cignetti, in my opinion, did a TERRIBLE job given the physical talent at his disposal. Hard to be so definitive regarding Pendry because the last half of the season, when we should have begun to see the result of his unit growing and learning, is when we were hit with the suspensions and some injuries that resulted in some players sitting out a game or two.

Joe Pendry is a former NFL OC and O-line coach and a huge asset to this team. I think doing anything to make him angry and cause him to leave would be a huge mistake. People criticize his offenses for being too conservative, but I read an article last year where he defended that. He was OC of the Houston Texans in their very first years as an expansion team and he had a hard time keeping pressure off the QB because of a lack of talent on the offensive line. Houston played very conservative to try and shorten games and give themselves a chance to win late in the game. If you look at his teams in Buffalo you will find he was not really all that conservative when he had talent to work with.

Exactly. It's easy to take a dim view and be "underwhelmed" or "unimpressed" when someone can't see past the surface. I saw nothing from the offense that was there before Saban & Co arrived. Pendry wasn't the problem. The problem(s) were pre-existing.
