I heard that on the news driving to work this morning. He called a lot of basketball games during his time as a broadcaster, always on the final four.

Recall he and Al McGuire calling games together, both as color analysts. McGuire always harped about not enough room, too crowded under the basket for 10 players. Early in the season, he kind of suggested that the game be reduced to 4 players each, to which Packer replied, "oh, don't start that crap this early in the season".
