šŸˆ Billy Napier takes Offensive Coordinator job at Arizona State

I guess at this point, I'm thinking about Ruggs and Smith and hope they bought into the process.
Napier wasn't the primary recruiter with either player. He was the secondary recruiter with Devonta with Burton as the primary. I'll take Burns any day of the week in a head to head with another recruiting coach--even in state's like Louisiana.

Reunion with BB8

He, Napier, was one of the first calls Todd Graham made--may have been tops on his list, but I don't know that for sure.

Considering his relationship with Barnett, to me it looks like a smart move by Graham.

This move shocks me. Why now only a few days before signing day?

The move wasn't publicized, but it was expected. Considering it's the closing days going into NSD no one should be surprised it wasn't publicized by the staff in Tuscaloosa. On the other hand, no one can blame AZ St. for announcing it when they did.

FWIW, Napier leaving was pretty well a done deal two weeks ago, if not more. When this story started making its way around another name popped up about taking a job on staff--Dameyune Craig. Out of curiousity I drifted over on some Auburn forums to gauge what their reaction might be (if they'd heard about it [time I'll never get back.])

Dameyune Craig - Bama Bound???

Look at the post edapes made about halfway down the thread.

No reason to be shocked. From surfing around this weekend I've seen a lot that hadn't seen, or heard, about the upcoming move.

Hopefully doesn't impact recruiting... Not too worried about that though.

Bigger news is that now he can be our next OC. Hopefully we get a couple big years from Sark, and when he moves on to a better job, we can bring Napier back. Just can't ever see Saban giving an OC job to a guy who's never been a coordinator (maybe Kirby?). Hoping this ends up a good investment in our future.
