This is an outstanding article on the LSU legend. Hard to believe that it was 50 years ago tomorrow night that he had his signature run. The article is long.

I read that today. Excellent read. LSU still bleuxs however!

It's strange. He made the run in 1959, but many people (LSU fans included) think that run helped lead LSU to the NC which, of course, happened in 1958. Some think Cannon won the Heisman during that NC season, but he won it in '59, the same year he made the run.

Another piece of trivia: Late in that '59 game vs. Ole Miss, the Rebs drove to the one-yard line where the Tigers' goal-line stand preserved the victory. The stand was lead by Billy Cannon and Warren Rabb, who combined to stop QB Doug Elmore just short of the goal-line.

Pirate, if memory serves, the Sugar Bowl did an LSU Ole Miss rematch, which Ole Miss won. Is that right?
