Wanted to post what I see as three games this Saturday, that could play a role in narrowing down the field for the final 4. I see 10 teams with 1 loss or less. As the season plays out and conference championships play out, we know 2 of these teams have to have more than one loss (B1G championship will be Ohio State vs Nebraska if both still have 1 loss at that point and PAC 12 will have Arizona State vs Oregon if both survive to that point). I don't see other games that will guarantee the reduction of 1-loss or less teams as of today, but I may be missing something.
The games I see this coming weekend that could play a role in the final 4 results going forward are...
Nebraska at Wisconsin - At home is a big for the Badgers as their 2 losses both came on the road (I considered playing LSU in Dallas the road). Also, Abdullah is aparently hobbled with a knee issue. Wisconsin has a chance.
Florida State at Miami - At home for Miami. FSU seems to play well enough to win no matter the opponant or deficit. A loss wouldn't make FSU fall from the 10 1-loss or less teams, but a lot of folks feel if they lose a game, they will not stay in the final 4.
And us hosting Miss State - A Bama win would not eliminate MSU from the 10 1-loss or less teams but could make the final slot in the 4 highly contested (if MSU wins out). But a loss obviously puts us out of those ranks.
I can't see this thing playing out with a 2-loss team making the final 4, although things often get crazy as seasons age and teams get beat up and others find their stride. Anything can happen!
So, we couuld still have 10 teams with 1 loss or less this Sunday (lookinga head, the number could stay the same next week as well), but maybe the games above will shake some things up.
