🏈 @BFeldmanCBS: BREAKING #Vandy coach James Franklin is expected to be the next head coach at #PennSta

Wow! I think that is a good fit. Franklin has earned his next step up and PSU will be emerging in a season or two as the NCAA continue to ease up. Congrats to Franklin. I think he will do well there.

I really liked him at Vandy as well, but I am glad Penn State has a quality coach. They are my second favorite program and while they are nowhere up there in terms of my love for the Tide, I have to root for the hometown team you know?

He is from the Philly 'burbs, so he is looked on favorably for that alone.

Here is some interesting trivia about the man .. "Franklin is the first African American to be head coach of a major sport at Vanderbilt, and the third to be a head football coach in the Southeastern Conference (after Sylvester Croom, formerly at Mississippi State, and former Kentucky head coach Joker Phillips)." He would also be the first African American HC of Penn State football.

He is by the phone, waiting. Vanderbilt just needs to make the call...

Franklin is a great head coach with a lot of potential to be even better at a big-time program like Penn St. Franklin was actually on the short-list for the recent Texas head coach position before it was offered to Charlie Strong. Franklin is going to be very successful at Penn State.

Back to the basement you go, Vandy.

We'll see who they bring in as their next coach...they may be able to continue being as competitive as they've been.

I do think there's one thing that needs to be mentioned, or asked.

Can you tell me how many wins Vandy has had over teams who finished their season with a winning record?

Whats with all the drama around this hire? He can't decide if he's taking the job at Penn State or staying at Vanderbilt.

Franklin's up to something, is he trying to be sneaking and take his recruits to Penn State?

It has to do with the Freeh report and requirements on compensation packages is my understanding. I don't know the specifics other than the two are somehow connected.

Seriously?

I'm not sure how many wins over teams that finished with a winning season, but I doubt it's very many.

I will say this though - Vandy is better off now than they were before Franklin began coaching there. They have a brand new indoor practice facility, and were able to upgrade other athletic facilities as well. Vandy just needs to continue to understand who they are. Hire a coach that will keep them competitive and continue to schedule cupcakes OOC.

If Vandy can do this, they'll continue to go to bowl games, but that's pretty much to ceiling of where Vandy can go at this point.
