šŸˆ Benton Gone?

The guy had a clear path to start and couldn't answer the call. I don't recall seeing him every make a play. Addition by subtraction. I have read that Bama still must cull 5 players to get to 85 once the summer new recruits arrive. (and that already includes Knott, Carter, and Benton.

I believe it's 4, if Tyson isn't a counter.

I don't think that will be an issue at all. I would expect at least 4 grad transfers after spring ball from the reporting I've seen. Here are the possible transfers that I've seen mentioned on other articles talking about depth a few days ago (2020 Alabama Football Roster Update):

WR - Shavers or Townsend
TE - Parker, Latu and then Tennison if he gets passed up by Tucker
OL - Randolph or Owens if they get passed up by Ekiyor
DL - Wynn and/or Mathis
LB - Moody was talked about as a possible
Kickers - Bulovas and or Delong

I'm sure there are more and it's always a fluid situation with injuries and performance gains.... so I don't worry to much about it, but looking up and down the roster I would expect 4/5 transfers to be a given by end of spring/summer.

Ekiyor and Mathis may both be starters, so I hope they wouldn't transfer.

I think you mis-read...

Ekiyor would be passing up either Randolph or Owens... if so, then Randolph and/or Owens could be transfers, not Ekiyor.

As for Mathis, his in his 4th year and if he doesn't win the starting role he could be a grad transfer if he wants more playing time... according to the article. I personally, have zero knowledge on if any of these guys are legit transfer candidates, but I do know that odds are at least 4 of them will be... ;)

Isn't Owens a C, Ekiyor a G? I expect Dickerson to move back to OG and Dalcourt start at C, but if Dickerson stays at C, Ekiyor starts at OG over the rest.

Man... I always feel like there are some really good players who don't get the chance on these types of "potential transfer" lists.

I loved Randolph out of HS. He was a big time recruit at a position where we've just upgraded to elite level talent competing for that spot. Although wasn't he playing blocking TE this year? He (or whoever that was) got on the field quite a bit. Reminds me of Brandon Greene... Who eventually went on to make NFL rosters.

Shavers is basically in the same boat. How are you going to break the rotation with 4 1st rounders at the same time? Really bad luck. I see a lot of fans come with the "he's just afraid to compete" line when a top dude choses elsehwere... Well in many cases, it just makes more sense to not be in his position.

Townsend is also talented. Always reminded me of Ardarius Stewart out of HS... Thought he could have been a good safety prospect but also talented on O. Bounced from WR to RB and now apparently back to WR (according to the roster). Tough to grain traction with the talent at those spots!

Mathis won't be grad transferring for more playing time. He played a ton last year and will play a ton next year. Wynn... Maybe? But he's got a legit chance to play also... Especially if Ray is donezo.

The Benton thing isn't surprising. It just never worked out. He can't say he didn't get a shot though, unlike some others on that list!

Kickers... I really really thought Reichard was our answer once and for all. If he's healthy I'll still be optimistic. And in that case, those other dudes should go somewhere with less pressure

Thanks for the info! RTR
