šŸ€ Bediako eligibility status update… [Judge ruling announced... No more Bediako at Bama]

Sounds like Sankey finally came off the sideline on this issue.

Yep. Yet somehow remains quiet on the LSU and Ole Miss egregious tampering issues. Or the Joey Aguilar situation. Or the Trinidad Chambliss situation.

Fact is, Sankey’s last good move was during Covid and forcing the hand(s) of the rest of the leagues to play football in 2020. And while that was nice and worthy of praise, the dude hasn’t had a solid base hit since. And let’s not forget, before 2020, he wasn’t exactly on a heater either.

It appears we aren't a priority of his like we were under Saban. Could mean he knew Coach knew more than him and keeping Saban close could make him look and appear smarter. Could be that he knows Alabama isn't the beacon of the SEC any longer and he has no use for us. It just appears we aren't connected any longer like we used to be with his office. I could be wrong, but just my feeling. A bit of that went into my post about grading our AD, because it just doesn't feel like the best relationship when it used to be a really good one.

Right!!!! Its Texas now. Making them the second shining star.

I know Sankey’s comment was filed regarding Charles’ case, but I took it as a shot at all 3 SEC guys who are trying to win eligibility cases. The other 2 guys lost, right? Maybe he didn’t need to comment on those because they were going to lose. But Chuck’s is a slightly different scenario since he played in a pro league. Either way, by Sankey saying the NCAA needs to stick to its rules, that’s a shot at all three deer with one arrow. At least in my opinion.

If it were Florida or the Barn playing a G League guy with a signed, dual league contract, we would all be raising hell but on the other side of the coin, the hypocrisy does remain.

I think from Sankey's standpoint, it would create even more of a slippery slope than what already exists.

Perhaps we need to go out and get our own Euro League guys to fill in the blanks if that is what we need.

The difference (to me) is he didn’t file an affidavit on behalf of the NCAA in those other cases. I wonder why, since he seems suddenly so invested with the Bediako/UA case.

Sankey using ā€œstudent-athleteā€ and amateurism in that affidavit is so fucking laughable!
Indeed. Since NIL money became such an enormous thing, terms like student athlete and amateurism are anachronisms in D-1 football and basketball. They are all professionals. Saying that Bediako's case is somehow different is hypocrisy at a high level. But that is life in the NCAA and the SEC these days. It would all be much simpler if the NCAA just said you have 4 years of eligibility regardless of your amateur status. Life was actually simpler, and mostly better, when payments to student athletes were under the table. That I would say something like that shows how far things have come.
