🏈 BCS Selection Thread.

Also, I don't like the idea of the Iron Bowl not being as important of a game because Alabama has clinched the playoffs, or an SEC championship.

Even if we can beat them with our 2nd string in, it's beside the point.

I like the current bowl system, for the fact that every single game matters, and is important to our goal.

Very impressed with Coach Patterson of TCU and the answers he provided the ESPN crew regarding the BCS selections.

Also like how the TCU cheerleaders, band, & student body provided the backdrop for his interview.

It's easy for Mountain West or WAC teams to whine about the current system while they continue to play in those conferences and play against those teams. Its not their fault the rest of their conferences are so bad, its just reality and thats the reason why it would take 2 losses from the big coverences to get a TCU/BSU in a title game. Atleast the current system allows for 2 best teams in the nation to compete for a championship, while the JV teams get to complain about it.

Sure, if Texas were the best team...too bad they're not. Did you watch that game last night? Uuuuuuugly. I'd also venture to say that TCU's schedule this year is equal to or better than Texas'.

And in regard to the "JV team", we all remember what happened last year when they took on the "big boys", right?

Texas looked like garbage last night, yes.
I still give more credit to a full SEC or Big 12 schedule or even a Big East schedule than a Mountain West schedule. TCU is a good team and is exactly where they should be at #4, same with BSU at #6.

Now if TCU was playing Florida, we'd probably have the same result as Bama did against Utah. What is Florida playing for now? same as Bama was playing for last year, NOTHING. As much as I hate saying we didn't care last year, it was clear we didn't.

If you honestly think that Utah had a better team than Bama for more than just that ONE game, your crazy. I know this sounds cocky, but 10-2 in the SEC would be better in my book than 12-0 in MW or WAC.

good point. I think just with talent alone, Miss st or Vandy get 8-10 wins in the WAC and MW.

I'm starting to realize from message boards and talking to other folks, that the worst thing to happen to college football recently was BSU over Oklahoma then Utah over Bama. Ruined everything haha.

IF...

TCU, Boise St. or Cincinnati took the place of say, Vanderbilt. Would any of them be unbeaten in the SEC?

In the SEC? No. Which is why I (obviously) have zero problem with Alabama playing for the title.

In the Big XII? This year? I haven't seen enough to Cincinnati to make a judgment, but I sure don't see any reason why TCU wouldn't be. Show me one team on Texas' schedule that TCU wouldn't have also trounced this year.

Boise and the WAC are a different animal entirely. They play one good team a year (Oregon this year), then coast through an absolute crap schedule. Trust me, I can't stand those guys either. As for Vandy being a 8-10 win team in the MWC? I think they'd probably do better than they do in the SEC, but they'd get trounced by Utah, BYU, and TCU. I'm sure you guys would disagree, so maybe we'll probably just have to agree to disagree on that point.

I don't know why I'm botheriing to b*tch though, since the system will never change as long as the BCS is around. It's all about the allmighty $$, which is just another reason why college football has the greatest regular season and most miserable post-season of any sport in existence.
