šŸ€ GAME THREAD šŸ€ Alabama vs Michigan: Friday night at 6:35 on TBS/TruTV

Damn. Michigan owns our ass again. It’s getting old. We’re going out with a whimper, similar to our football team this year. Frustrating end to a somewhat frustrating season for this team. Should not have lost 10 games and shouldn’t have gotten blown out tonight.

Back to back seasons of ending the season getting blown out against a team that has the versatility on offense and tenacity on defense. Both times, come out lethargic in the second half and settling for poor shots. I thought we handled punches well in the first half. Second half? Not so much.

Oats really needs to emphasize better play inside. It has to be addressed.
IMO the CNO offense is not built to win a NC unless when it comes tournament time you play all games like the Texas Tech game or really close to that performance. It showed tonight, this Michigan team, you can have a balance of 3 pointers and also points in the paint. CNO’s offense is not designed for that. He is a great coach when it’s working but IMO no matter where he coaches This is going to be a consistent problem.

Some of y'all are searching your souls as if Alabama was the 10 point favorite tonight. Bama is really good. Michigan is better. I still think Arizona wins it all, and I remember when they dog walked the Tide earlier this year too. Bama put up a good fight tonight, just went cold from 3 in the 2nd half and couldn't maintain the intensity on defense.

Overall, another really good season. Oats will search for answers to the issues, maybe(?) a coaching change too. He can't help but do better in the portal, and my guess is, Bama will be right back in the Sweet 16 next season with another shot to advance.

How 2'nd halves have we played like this and lost this season? What was our strategy? Did we wear our lead shoes the 2'nd Half. One player dribbling around and the other four standing around. Not much movement at all. No anticipation to rebound. Fumbling the ball several times when we had chances for rebounds. Against TT, we moved well, anticipated and played tight defense. Did our staff not know that M was going to play tighter , better defense the 2'nd half? And we just kept playing the same stagnant offense. If more of our players had showed up, in scoring and rebounding, we would have made more of a game of it the 2'nd half. Missing shots, not blocking out for rebounds, turning the ball over and not getting back on defense, makes for a lop sided loss.

There's always next year. ROLL TIDE!

It was a good season, not great! CNO has brought excitement to Tuscaloosa with his brand of offense. Remember the days when we hoped to make the dance? It’s an expectation now along with a decent run.

As I stated in an earlier thread, we rank 343rd in division one allowing points in the paint. That has to be addressed right away. Like it or not, CNO missed big time on Williamson. He simply was not athletic enough to compete in the SEC. Did you also notice the physical size difference in Michigans forward and ours? Big, strong and physical young men. Another miss this year was Bol. He cannot physically he just can’t matchup well rebounding. We need a big to help out Sherrell and stronger forwards.

Wishing the young men who are graduating the very best as they open the next chapter in life. TY to all the players who wore the Crimson this year. Next year, we will go dancing again and hopefully win several games in the process.

I think he absolutely can if he has the right pieces. That '23 team with Miller was absolutely fit to win it all. Last season was too IMO but did not play good defense.

It was absolutely going to take a lot for us to upset them tonight. Dusty May is great coach. He maximizes his team's potential every year.

I thought Alabama really came out lethargic though in the second half, which really killed any chance we had. Cannot do that against a #1 seed. Maybe they ran out of gas but lot of frustrating plays that dictated their play that led to a complete momentum shift.

But them, Arizona, and Duke are in an upper echelon this season compared to the rest of the field.

I’m curious as to who from this team will still be there come October. My guess is, very few. We could likely have a new entire starting 5 when we tip off in the fall, the way things go these days.

We saw some good flashes from this team, but never felt they were a NC contender. Way too inconsistent shooting the ball, bad on defense, and not enough good play from bigs. It was a good run, a couple of wins in the dance is always nice.

I hate losing to Michigan in any sport. It’s getting old.

Good season! A little disappointed though, Michigan was much better. Funny! A Sweet 16 bid used to get everyone giddy, now we’re disappointed because we don’t at least make an Elite 8. Oats and staff have got to find us a couple of rim protectors or get us one physical body and make Sherrell practice football when they get back to T’town. Just don’t go find a 7 footer that has never played basketball and try to make a basketball player out of him. Carl Engstrom anyone? Injuries hurt and the boneheaded decision by Holloway didn’t help us either.

It’s pretty when it’s working.

When it’s not, it’s not.

I feel we gotta get more physical down low and find the balance between ā€œjack it up stateā€ and a legitimate offensive/defensive basketball team.
