šŸˆ Barns Duke Williams temp suspended

I get what both of you are saying... he stays and is a distraction the whole year, or he leaves and they lose a key talent on offense....

Fuck it either way; not our problem until Thanksgiving.

They could be in for an 8-4 (4-4) type season or worse with him off the team and if Bama does well and beats them, then GUs is on the hot seat next year.
You drunk? Gus won't be on a hot seat for a good long time. He could go 8-4 for 2 or 3 years and he will still be loved and admired in the cult. He has the most infamous play against their hated rival on the way to a title game birth in his first year. He has produced offense galore and only lacks a decent defense from being a solid team all around... and he's 3 seasons in with one of the better DCs in the country now.

He's writing his own checks until he loses to Bama 3 or 4 years in a row... then he's on the hotseat.

@Mr. Pink If there's a case example for knee-jerk reactions it can be found in West Opelika. Think about it for a minute ...

How many games did Tub's Auburn teams' win in a row against the Tide only to run into the 2008 season (5-7 with a loss to Vandy which HURT) and he's released/resigned/fired.

Chizik was what, 1-3 against the Tide? 49-0 was his cue to leave AFTER winning the NC in 2010.

Jay Jacobs is certainly known for his rational decision making processes. :sarcasm:

To me, Auburn looks like they've got the chance to be a 10-2, 9-3 type of a team. If those losses come at the hands of Bama, LSU, and say UGA? Heck, you want to make this a little more convoluted? Imagine a start to the 2015 season with a loss to Petrino?

Dat ain't gonna make dat fambly happy...

Good points... and I believe Tubbs would have been around much longer if it weren't for Saban coming and dancing circles around him in recruiting and then on the field. Chizik too if it weren't for two huge shut outs against Bama.

If Gus gets embarrassed by the rivals for 2 or 3 years straight, then sure he's on the hotseat seat like his predecessors... but an 8-4 year this year won't put him on the hotseat. Muschamp buys him 2 more years at the very least, even if that's the only 2 years Muschamp will be there.

Don't get me wrong, I'm not a believer in the boom brothers... but that cult in west Georgia sure is.

I'm still shocked he was duck hunting when Saban was tearing up the recruiting trail.

To think ... and how many times did we read/hear "Tubs has a winning record over Saban?"

I think if they go 8-4 or worse again and Bama beats them and makes the playoff, Gus's seat is heating up. As Terry said, they turn on their gods quickly. Just look at Terry Bowden, Tubs, or Chizik. Chizik was on the hot seat after one 8-5 year, only one year removed from a title. He had lost the support of fans, admin, and the team before 2012 even happened. Gus has a little more cachet because they think he's a guru, but not much. Terry Bowden had a ten win season in 97, and he's on record saying 98 fell apart because Lowder had already decided he wanted him gone and was giving their playbook and practice film to opponents.

They could go 8-4 as it is. Lose their only reliable receiving threat and they could go 6-6. They judge their coaches in terms of Alabama. If Bama beats them and does well, Gus has been beaten twice in a row, and his one win goes from being celebrated to being looked on as a fluke. Gus could be toast before he has any idea.

You bring up a good point here with "lost the team." To a fan they continually pointed to discipline issues at the core of Chizik's problems. Yet, to a fan they don't want to admit these same players were recruited when Gus was down there in his first gig.

Same issues are rearing their ugly heads today ... and it helps little to have people like Craig, Garner, Thompson, etc., as the coaches keeping these guys in line. Especially when you start considering how divisive all of them have been at previous jobs.

Auburn needs Duke more than Duke needs Auburn at this point. If he were to sit out this season he'd still be a 2nd or 3rd round pick at worst in next year's draft. However, if he sits out or gets booted from the team then Auburn's offense suffers mightily in the passing game. That's why I very seriously doubt he gets booted.

I think Auburn can get away with not having Duke playing until LSU or Miss State game. I think they can sneak by those teams but after San Jose game, things will get real hard for Auburn... I really Don't think Duke will be back with his team... He has spoken of wanting to leave school and team on several occassion...
