Boren told The Associated Press that because the SEC offer didn't include Oklahoma State and Texas, he didn't consider it a good option. Boren said the Pac-10 offer was for five Big 12 schools -- Oklahoma, Oklahoma State, Texas, Texas A&M and Texas Tech -- to join as a group.

If the SEC was having the kind of problems the Big 12 was (is) having and we got an invitation from another conference, would we NOT go if, say, Auburn wasn't considered?

Now, before y'all jump all over me, I know we would not be likely to ever leave the SEC. I'm just presenting a hypothetical situation like the one quoted above.

I'd have to think that Montgomery might favor a package deal, lest Auburn wither. If the SEC were going away, and Bama was heading one direction, what other direction could Auburn head that would sustain its current status? And what then is the cost of that drop to The University of Auburn?

Think about it this was; Oklahoma has two things: The Sooners, and the Sooners/Cowboys rivalry. Losing the Rivalry as it stands (i.e. on equal footing) would be make OSU another Tulsa.
